The “No to Execution Tuesdays”<\/a> campaign enters its 56th week, with hunger strikes spreading to 36 prisons, including Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah. Inmates and activists continue to protest against executions, which have surged, with at least 62 carried out in February alone.<\/p>\n

The movement also condemns the suspicious death of Tehran University student Amir Mohammad Khaleghi and the government\u2019s violent crackdown on protests, including in Dehdasht. Additionally, activists highlight the neglect of children with cancer and disabilities, whose families cannot afford treatment due to worsening economic conditions.<\/p>\n

Amid growing public support, including from the Iranian Writers’ Association and families of death row inmates, organizers call for more demonstrations outside prisons.<\/p>\n

As the “No to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>” campaign enters its 56th week, a group of inmates from Dieselabad Prison in Kermanshah, as the 36th prison to join, announced in a letter that they would participate in the campaign starting from February 19 and will go on a hunger strike in protest against the medieval practice of execution.<\/p>\n

The members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign extend their condolences to the family, students, and people of Iran over the tragic and suspicious death of Amir Mohammad Khaleghi, a student at the University of Tehran, who was murdered in a brutal and mysterious manner. The campaign holds the government responsible for this incident and, while supporting the rightful protests of the students at this university, calls on students from other universities to stand in solidarity with those in Tehran.<\/p>\n
