As the regime faces mounting crises, including energy shortages, financial mismanagement, and public discontent, rival factions turned against one another, each blaming the other for the country\u2019s deepening instability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"1046\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/who-is-masoud-pezeshkian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Masoud Pezeshkian<\/a>\u2019s government has been under relentless attack from extremist factions who associate themselves with the regime&#8217;s Supreme Leader, despite his repeated declarations of loyalty to Ali Khamenei. They\u00a0have accused Pezeshkian\u2019s administration of incompetence and broken promises, pointing to his controversial appointments and policy failures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1281\" data-end=\"1805\">One of the most controversial attacks has been over the appointment of <a href=\"https:\/\/fararu.com\/fa\/news\/776554\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pezeshkian\u2019s son-in-law<\/a> to a senior government position, which opponents have labeled as blatant nepotism. However, Pezeshkian\u2019s allies have hit back, accusing their rivals of seeking to paint him as a second Ebrahim Raisi\u2014the previous president who was killed in a helicopter crash. They accuse their rivals of prioritizing power struggles over the survival of the regime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2577\" data-end=\"2934\">A major point of conflict has been the recent exposure of a massive $4 billion corruption <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/record-3-7b-embezzlement-scandal-shakes-irans-tea-industry-revealing-deep-corruption-and-production-consequences\/\">scandal linked to the Debsh<\/a> Tea Company, which has severely damaged the credibility of extremist factions. This scandal has embarrassed the very people who once hailed Raisi\u2019s government as the \u2018most anti-corruption administration in Iran\u2019s history.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2936\" data-end=\"3104\">Pezeshkian\u2019s camp has capitalized on the scandal, mocking their rivals: &#8220;Instead of attacking us, why don\u2019t you explain the corruption in Raisi\u2019s government?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3106\" data-end=\"3400\">Adding further to the regime\u2019s economic turmoil, newly released documents show that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entekhab.ir\/fa\/news\/854309\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raisi administration had forecast<\/a> the Iranian currency devaluing to between 90,000 and 100,000 tomans per dollar, revealing that even insiders expected a financial collapse under their leadership.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Infighting and Economic Turmoil Deepen Cracks in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>\u2019s Regime<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FoEKoexl0B\">https:\/\/t.co\/FoEKoexl0B<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1871586636741701789?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 24, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3484\" data-end=\"3803\">Meanwhile, Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Friday prayer leader and Khamenei&#8217;s representative in Mashhad, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entekhab.ir\/fa\/news\/854644\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused him of betraying<\/a> Khamenei: &#8220;He has been disloyal to the Supreme Leader. He [Pezeshkian] says, \u2018We wanted to negotiate, but since the Leader said no, we didn\u2019t.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3805\" data-end=\"4127\">Alamolhoda also condemned Pezeshkian for not enforcing the hijab law as aggressively as hardliners demand, stating: &#8220;He claims he doesn\u2019t want to enforce hijab laws because he doesn\u2019t want to stand against the people. His government and economic team are controlled by brokers and capitalists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"6373\" data-end=\"6693\">Sabeti also lashed out at former Economy Minister Abdolnaser Hemmati, stating that he should have been punished for his role in Iran\u2019s financial collapse: &#8220;Hemmati should have been held accountable for the damage he caused to this country.
