Their slogans included:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"1150\">\n<li data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"718\"><em data-start=\"669\" data-end=\"716\">\u201cOur rights will only be won in the streets!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"719\" data-end=\"778\"><em data-start=\"721\" data-end=\"776\">\u201cThey looted the pension fund and left us destitute!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"779\" data-end=\"840\"><em data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"838\">\u201cBoth the government and parliament lie to the people!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"916\"><em data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"914\">\u201cGas, electricity, and livelihoods have been stolen from the people!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"985\"><em data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"983\">\u201cWe will not live under oppression; we sacrifice for freedom!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"986\" data-end=\"1018\"><em data-start=\"988\" data-end=\"1016\">\u201cShame on this servitude!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1061\"><em data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1059\">\u201cImprisoned teachers must be freed!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1103\"><em data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1101\">\u201cImprisoned workers must be freed!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1150\"><em data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1148\">\u201cAll political prisoners must be freed!\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1364\">Retirees from Alborz coal mines in <strong data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1259\">Shahroud<\/strong>, northern Iran, joined the nationwide protests, raising their voices against low pensions and poor working conditions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">March 9\u2014Rasht, northern Iran<br \/>Protest rally by medical emergency staff. Even our wages and holiday bonuses remain unpaid!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1621\">Meanwhile, protests continue in <strong>Zahedan<\/strong>, southeastern Iran, where people gathered outside a police station, demanding the release of detained youth. Security forces responded with mass arrests, adding to the growing list of political prisoners in Iran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"1998\">Telecommunications workers in <strong data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"1868\">Mashhad<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"1887\">Piranshahr<\/strong> held rallies on March 8, denouncing poor working conditions, unpaid wages, and government mismanagement.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Harsh Crackdown and Repression<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reports indicate that authorities are intensifying their crackdown on protesters. In the city of <strong>Izeh<\/strong>, southern Iran, security forces surrounded and killed Aboul Kourkour, a well-known activist, during a violent standoff. Facing certain arrest and torture, Kourkour reportedly took his own life rather than fall into the hands of the regime\u2019s security forces. He noted that workers\u2019 wages in Turkey have increased to $630 per month, while Iranian laborers earn only a fraction of that despite skyrocketing inflation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A government-affiliated newspaper, <strong>Ham-Mihan<\/strong>, warned that the combination of sanctions and the refusal to engage in negotiations has placed Iran on the brink of economic collapse. With the exchange rate fluctuating around <strong>90,000 rials per dollar<\/strong>, inflation is projected to exceed <strong>50%<\/strong>, further crippling the purchasing power of ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baharnews.ir\/note\/519339\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bahar News website highlighted<\/a> the deteriorating conditions in <strong>Tehran<\/strong>, where an increasing number of businesses are closing due to a lack of customers. The number of beggars and street vendors has surged, and conflicts over prime selling locations are becoming more frequent. The report also revealed that over 4.3 million motorcycles are now operating in the city, reflecting a rise in gig work as citizens struggle to make ends meet.
