The United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran has released an advance summary<\/a> of its findings ahead of its full report to be presented at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council. The report, based on over 38,000 pieces of evidence and 281 witness testimonies, confirms that the clerical dictatorship continues to commit gross human rights violations and crimes against humanity in the wake of the 2022 protests sparked by the death of Jina Mahsa Amini.<\/p>\n The Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) found that State authorities systematically used lethal force, torture, and arbitrary detention against protesters and dismissed extrajudicial killings as “suicides.” It also revealed that mock executions were widely employed as a form of psychological torture in detention centers.<\/p>\n “Two and a half years after the protests, women and girls continue to face systematic discrimination, both in law and in practice, particularly regarding the mandatory hijab,” the report states.
