WASHINGTON \u2014 Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice, is targeting a network of six entities and two individuals based in Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC) responsible for the procurement of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components on behalf of Iran-based Qods Aviation Industries (QAI)\u2014a leading manufacturer for Iran\u2019s UAV program. \u00a0This network has also facilitated procurement for other entities in Iran’s military-industrial complex, to include Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA) and Shahid Bakeri Industrial Group (SBIG). \u00a0Today\u2019s action marks the second round of sanctions targeting Iranian weapons proliferators since the President issued\u00a0National Security Presidential Memorandum 2<\/a>\u00a0on February 4, 2025, ordering a campaign of maximum pressure on Iran.<\/p>\n

A Yale University Law School associate research scholar was terminated after failing to disclose information about her alleged ties to Samidoun Network, a Canada-based group designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department.<\/p>\n

Iranian-born Helyeh Doutaghi was fired Friday, three weeks after being put on administrative leave after allegations were made that she was part of the Samidoun Network, classified as “a sham charity” by the\u00a0federal government<\/a> for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.<\/p>\n

“Over the last three weeks,\u00a0Yale has<\/a>\u00a0repeatedly requested to meet with Ms. Doutaghi and her attorney to obtain clarifying information and resolve this matter,” Yale spokesperson Alden Ferro said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “Unfortunately, she has refused to meet to provide any responses to critical questions, including whether she has ever engaged in prohibited activity with organizations or individuals that were placed on the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list (‘SDN List’).”<\/p>\n

During a press briefing on March 31<\/a>, 2025, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce reaffirmed the U.S. government\u2019s firm stance against the Iranian regime, labeling it as a state sponsor of terrorism. She emphasized that the regime\u2019s own Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and stated that \u201cmany regime leaders have also been designated as terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bruce underscored the comprehensive scope of Tehran\u2019s destabilizing activities, including its ballistic missile program, support for terrorist groups, and repression of the Iranian people’s freedom. \u201cIran\u2019s behavior across the globe threatens U.S. national interests,\u201d she noted, highlighting that the U.S. remains committed to ending Iran\u2019s nuclear threat.<\/p>\n
