Suspected US Airstrikes in Yemen Kill at Least 4 People Near Hodeida, Houthi Rebels Say<\/h3>\n

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) \u2014 Suspected U.S. airstrikes battered rebel-controlled areas of Yemen into Wednesday, with\u00a0the Houthis<\/a>\u00a0saying that one strike killed at least four people near the Red Sea port city of Hodeida.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, satellite images taken Wednesday and analyzed by The Associated Press show\u00a0at least six stealth B-2 Spirit bombers<\/a>\u00a0now stationed at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean \u2014 a highly unusual deployment amid the Yemen campaign and tensions with Iran.<\/p>\n

The intense campaign of airstrikes in Yemen under U.S. President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>, targeting the rebels over their attacks on shipping in Mideast waters stemming from the Israel-Hamas war,\u00a0has killed at least 65 people<\/a>, according to casualty figures released by the Houthis.<\/p>\n

The campaign appears to show no signs of stopping as the Trump administration again linked its airstrikes on the Iranian-backed Houthis to an effort to pressure Iran over its rapidly advancing nuclear program<\/a>. While so far giving no specifics about the campaign and its targets, White House press secretary\u00a0Karoline Leavitt<\/a>\u00a0put the overall number of strikes on Tuesday at more than 200.<\/p>\n

UK Warns of Snapback Sanctions Against Iran’s Regime Over Nuclear Threats<\/h3>\n

On April 1, 2025, Hamish Falconer, the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, warned the Iranian regime of potential snapback sanctions and other punitive measures amid escalating tensions over Tehran\u2019s nuclear ambitions. His remarks were made during a session<\/a> in the House of Commons, where concerns were raised about the regime\u2019s ongoing threats and recent rhetoric regarding pre-emptive strikes against U.S. military assets in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not want to see Iran secure a nuclear weapon. We believe that a diplomatic solution is the best way to achieve that, but we will hold the snap-back of sanctions, and indeed many other measures, under review until we are satisfied,\u201d Falconer stated. He emphasized that while the UK continues to support diplomatic efforts, all options remain under consideration to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

The discussion followed inquiries from British MPs about reports that the Iranian regime is considering pre-emptive strikes against American B-2 Spirit bombers stationed in Diego Garcia. While Falconer refrained from providing detailed commentary, he acknowledged the seriousness of the threats posed by the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n

The UK government\u2019s warning comes amid mounting international concerns over Tehran\u2019s increasingly belligerent rhetoric<\/a> and its refusal to abandon its nuclear weapons program.<\/p>\n
