The \u201cNo to Executions Tuesdays<\/a>\u201d campaign has continued to expand throughout Iran, reaching its 63rd consecutive week with widespread participation from political prisoners in at least 38 prisons nationwide. Initiated in February 2024, the campaign seeks to abolish the death penalty in Iran and has drawn support despite ongoing repression by the regime.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate a renewed surge in death sentences and executions following the conclusion of Nowruz holidays. The campaign\u2019s organizers have emphasized that their opposition extends to all executions, whether targeting political or non-political prisoners.<\/p>\n

The organizers of the campaign have urged the international community to condition any relations or transactions with the clerical dictatorship on the complete abolition of the death penalty.\u00a0The \u201cNo to Executions Tuesdays\u201d campaign continues to highlight the regime\u2019s reliance on executions to maintain control amid growing dissent and internal crises.<\/p>\n

63rd Week of the \u201cNo to Executions Tuesdays\u201d Campaign Across 38 Prisons in Iran<\/h3>\n

With the conclusion of the Nowruz holidays, during which the number of executions relatively decreased, the regime has now resumed its brutal crackdown, significantly increasing the issuance and implementation of death sentences. In recent days, many prisoners have been transferred to quarantine in preparation for execution. On Monday, at least 10 prisoners were moved to the \u201csecure ward\u201d at Ghezel Hesar Prison, indicating that their executions are likely imminent.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, the United Nations Human Rights Council, at the end of its 58th session in Geneva, passed a resolution condemning the widespread human rights violations in Iran and extending the mandate<\/a> of the \u201cSpecial Rapporteur\u201d and the \u201cIndependent Fact-Finding Mission\u201d for another year.<\/p>\n
