Senior officials, clerics, and IRGC commanders are now openly clashing over negotiations with the United States and the future of the regime\u2019s nuclear program \u2014 a dispute revealing both the regime&#8217;s internal fragility and its dangerous impulses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"765\" data-end=\"1290\">In an editorial published on March 10 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/khorasanonlin.ir\/News\/Item\/10986\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">state-run <em data-start=\"820\" data-end=\"830\">Khorasan<\/em> newspaper<\/a>, Mehdi Fazaeli, a longtime confidant of the regime&#8217;s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, launched a scathing attack on advocates of renewed nuclear talks with the U.S., warning that \u201cprescribing negotiations is not only useless, it may kill the patient.\u201d Dismissing sanctions as the main cause of Iran&#8217;s economic collapse, Fazaeli insisted that those who believe \u201cnegotiation is the cure for economic disease\u201d are promoting \u201cthe most useless and even harmful solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1695\">He cited the two rounds of nuclear talks \u2014 in the early 2000s and again during the 2015 JCPOA \u2014 as cautionary tales. \u201cBack then, our foreign minister strolled and laughed in Geneva with the U.S. Secretary of State. And what did we get in return? On the same day, Ali Shamkhani, former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alishamkhani_ir\/status\/1910293913664971035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned on X (formerly Twitter)<\/a>: \u201cContinued foreign threats and military pressure could lead to Iran expelling IAEA inspectors and cutting off cooperation.\u201d His message was <a href=\"https:\/\/donya-e-eqtesad.com\/%D8%A8%D8%AE%D8%B4-%D8%B3%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%AA-%D8%AE%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%86-62\/4167220-%D9%BE%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AE-%D8%B5%D8%B1%DB%8C%D8%AD-%D9%85%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%88%D9%86-%D8%B3%DB%8C%D8%A7%D8%B3%DB%8C-%D8%B3%D9%BE%D8%A7%D9%87-%D8%A8%D9%87-%D8%AA%D9%87%D8%AF%DB%8C%D8%AF%D9%87%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D8%A2%D9%85%D8%B1%DB%8C%DA%A9%D8%A7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">echoed by Yadollah Javani<\/a>, the IRGC\u2019s political deputy, who declared that if threats continue, \u201cIran will revise the defensive doctrine and the nature of its nuclear program. The meaning of this revision is very clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2265\" data-end=\"2765\">This marks a major escalation. In sermons and parliamentary speeches, multiple regime insiders have hinted that the Supreme Leader\u2019s so-called fatwa against nuclear weapons is not immutable. Kermanshah\u2019s Friday prayer leader, Habibollah Ghafoori,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irna.ir\/news\/85793864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> said on April 4<\/a>: \u201cIf our enemies pursue foolish acts or aggression, the Islamic Republic might officially reconsider this fatwa.\u201d He claimed this \u201csecondary ruling\u201d would be legitimate under Islamic jurisprudence and serve as \u201ca proven model of deterrence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2767\" data-end=\"3000\">The threat was reinforced by lawmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eghtesadnews.com\/%D8%A8%D8%AE%D8%B4-%D8%A7%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%B3%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%B1-%D8%B1%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%87-%D9%87%D8%A7-61\/712853-%D9%82%D8%B3%DB%8C%D9%85-%D8%B9%D8%AB%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%86%DB%8C-%D9%BE%D8%B1%D9%87%DB%8C%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%AF%D8%B1%DA%AF%DB%8C%D8%B1%DB%8C-%D9%86%D8%B8%D8%A7%D9%85%DB%8C-%D8%B4%D8%B1%D8%B7-%D8%B9%D9%82%D9%84-%D9%85%D9%86%D8%B7%D9%82-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Qaseem Osmani on April 6<\/a>, who stated: \u201cThe only path to confront global arrogance is rapid, uninterrupted movement toward building a nuclear weapon. Former head of parliament\u2019s National Security Committee, Heshmatollah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entekhab.ir\/fa\/news\/859233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Falahatpisheh, responded<\/a> to <em data-start=\"3179\" data-end=\"3187\">Kayhan<\/em>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/iran-news-khamenei-mouthpiece-threatens-to-assassinate-u-s-president-doubles-down-against-criticism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threats of assassinating Trump<\/a> by writing: \u201cIf you wanted war, you\u2019d go to Lebanon. Don\u2019t insult Iran by linking your foolish plots to its name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3363\" data-end=\"3512\">He added: \u201cThe nation is paying the price for extremists\u2019 bluff. One day, the profiteers of sanctions will be tried, even if those trials come late.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3930\" data-end=\"4353\">Amid these elite clashes, deeper fissures within state propaganda are also emerging. Extremist factions insist the regime\u2019s nuclear program is purely peaceful and grounded in national dignity. Yet at the same time, they invoke the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/nuclear\/iranian-regime-threatens-with-nuclear-armament-and-pre-emptive-strikes-amid-escalating-tensions-with-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bomb as a \u201cdeterrent\u201d against<\/a> perceived threats. State-affiliated commentator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baharnews.ir\/news\/523452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahmad Zeidabadi called<\/a> the new pro-bomb rhetoric \u201ca pit, not a path,\u201d warning that Iraq\u2019s own WMD posture paved the way for its invasion and downfall. \u201cThe more our officials speak of changing our nuclear strategy, the easier they make it for the U.S. and Israel to act,\u201d he cautioned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4757\" data-end=\"5070\">The contradictions are growing more visible. While Tehran\u2019s officials blame the West for economic hardship, internal voices \u2014 including those from parliament \u2014 are openly admitting to rampant mismanagement, distrust, and public disillusionment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"5072\" data-end=\"5392\">What\u2019s clear is that the regime, nearly half a century old, is facing concurrent crises of economic collapse, strategic confusion, and internal fragmentation.
