Once known as the source of Iran\u2019s major rivers, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari now faces such severe shortages that, according to local reports, over 500 villages depend on tanker-delivered drinking water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"137\" data-end=\"1504\">Protesters chanted, \u201cWe want water, not looting,\u201d and \u201cChaharmahal is thirsty, return its water,\u201d denouncing regime-backed projects like the Ghaleb tunnel and industrial water transfers to neighboring provinces, which have devastated local agriculture, livelihoods, and the environment. One protester told local media, \u201cChaharmahal and Bakhtiari was once the source of Iran\u2019s great rivers, but now due to theft and mismanagement, even drinking water in our villages is brought in by tankers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"137\" data-end=\"1504\">Demonstrators held signs reading \u201cDeath to the mafia\u201d and \u201cWoe if our tribes take up arms,\u201d blaming the regime\u2019s water mafia and accusing the state of sacrificing the public\u2019s basic needs for the benefit of select interest groups. Holding up the images of nine prisoners, including Vahid Bani-Amarian, <a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/2024\/12\/22\/iranian-political-prisoner-pouya-ghobadi-sentenced-to-death-following-seven-years-of-repeated-arrests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pouya Ghobadi<\/a>, Mohammad Taghavi Sangdehi, Abolhassan Montazer, Babak Alipour, Akbar Daneshvarkar, Mehdi Hassani, Behrooz Ehsani Eslamloo, and Mohammad-Javad Vafaee Sani, the families called for the immediate cancellation of execution orders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"2390\">The gathering was part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/news\/irans-no-to-executions-campaign-expands-to-34-prisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cNo to Executions Tuesdays\u201d<\/a> campaign, now in its 64th week, taking place across more than 40 prisons in Iran. One merchant said, \u201cThe electricity department shut down the market without any coordination.\u201d In Ravand, residents reported a blackout from 7 to 9 p.m., followed by another outage the next morning. \u201cAt 9 a.m., the power went out again. It\u2019s chaos here. No one even told us they\u2019d cut it,\u201d a local resident said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2392\" data-end=\"3774\">In <strong>Lamerd<\/strong>, school students rallied in protest, chanting \u201cWe need electricity, we need electricity,\u201d after repeated outages disrupted classroom activities.
