Marking the 65th consecutive week of the <em data-start=\"507\" data-end=\"535\">&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/2025\/04\/22\/65th-week-of-the-no-to-execution-tuesdays-campaign-in-40-prisons-across-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>&#8220;<\/em> campaign, demonstrators held placards reading \u201cNo to execution\u201d and called for the cancellation of death sentences imposed on five supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK). <a href=\"https:\/\/amnesty.ca\/urgent-actions\/iran-six-men-at-risk-of-execution-after-flaw-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The prisoners<\/a>\u2014Akbar Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, Babak Alipour, Pouya Ghanbari, and Vahid Bani-Amrian\u2014have reportedly been denied phone access and are under pressure to accept transfer to the notorious Qezel Hesar Prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"1268\">The protest came amid growing concern among international human rights advocates, including the UN\u2019s Special Rapporteur on Iran, about the regime\u2019s escalating use of execution as a tool of suppression. According to human rights groups, around 60 political prisoners in Iran currently face death sentences.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 On Apr 22, families of Iran&#39;s death row political prisoners held their 10th protest since 2024 outside Evin Prison\u2014amid the 65th week of the No To Execution Tuesdays campaign. Chanting slogans such as \u201cWe stand until the end against executions\u201d and \u201cUnion against poverty and corruption,\u201d they drew attention not only to their collapsing livelihoods but also to the broader climate of repression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1920\">In <strong>Qazvin<\/strong>, northern Iran, applicants in the government\u2019s long-delayed National Housing Plan protested outside the Housing and Urban Development Office, demanding fulfillment of state promises. Separately, in <strong>Harsin<\/strong>, authorities from the municipality demolished street vendor stalls, sparking outrage over state harassment of the poor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2235\" data-end=\"2627\">Public anger over basic services boiled over even inside the regime\u2019s own parliament. MP Ebrahim Rezaei warned of public backlash over repeated power and water outages, questioning how a region supplying Iran\u2019s gas and nuclear energy could be deprived of electricity. \u201cGod help us in the summer heat,\u201d he said, accusing the government of nepotism and mismanagement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2629\" data-end=\"2867\">Today\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">widespread protests<\/a> once again highlight Iran\u2019s volatile internal climate.
