Exclusive: Iran to Send Russia Launchers for Short-Range Missiles, Sources Say<\/h3>\n

WASHINGTON\/LONDON May 9 (Reuters) – Iran is preparing to deliver in the near future launchers for short-range ballistic missiles that the U.S. said Tehran sent to Russia last year for use against Ukraine, according to two Western security officials and a regional official.<\/p>\n

The delivery of the Fath-360 launchers – if it occurs – would help support Russia’s grinding assault on its neighbor and reaffirm the deepening security ties between Moscow and Tehran.<\/p>\n

With a 75-mile (120-km) range, the Fath-360 would give Moscow’s forces a new weapon to fire at Ukrainian frontline troops, nearby military targets, and population centers close to the border with Russia, analysts said.<\/p>\n

Ukraine Imposes Sanctions Against Chinese, Iranian Companies<\/h3>\n

May 9 (Reuters) – Ukraine introduced sanctions against one Chinese and three Iranian companies on Friday, according to a presidential decree.<\/p>\n

The sanctions list includes Smart Kit Technology Limited from Hong Kong, and Alvand Motorbuilding Industries Company, Bonyan Danesh Shargh Private Company and Pishro Sanat Aseman Sharif Private Company registered in Iran.<\/p>\n

No reason was given in the decree for introducing restrictions but Ukraine has previously accused both China and Iran of supporting Russia’s war effort.<\/p>\n

Fourth Man Arrested as Part of Counter Terrorism Policing Investigation<\/h3>\n

A 31-year-old man [D] was arrested at an address in north-west London this morning (Friday, 9 May) as part of the investigation, which is being led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.\u00a0The man, who is an Iranian national, was arrested and detained under section 27 of the National Security Act 2023.<\/p>\n

Three men, aged 39 [A], 44 [B], and 55 [C], were arrested on Saturday, 3 May as part of the investigation. Warrants of further detention have been sought and obtained for them today, meaning the three men [A \u2013 C] can be detained until Saturday, 17 May.<\/p>\n
