Washington, D.C.<\/strong> \u00a0\u2013 Today, Congressman Tom McClintock (CA-05) released the following statement on H. Res 166: \u201cI am pleased to announce that H. \u00a0Res. 166 supporting a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Republic of Iran has crossed an important threshold. \u00a0A majority of the entire House of Representatives has now joined to co-sponsor this resolution, comprised of 136 Republicans and 83 Democrats.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis truly bi-partisan and broad-based House majority endorses the general principles propounded by Iranian democracy groups, most notably the ten-point plan proposed by the National Council of Resistance of Iran. \u00a0It calls for the universal right to vote; free elections; a market economy; separation of religion and state; \u00a0gender, religious, and ethnic equality; a foreign policy based on peaceful coexistence; peace in the Middle East; and a non-nuclear Republic of Iran. \u00a0It also condemns the Iranian regime’s terrorism, regional proxy was,r and internal oppression.<\/p>\n

UK Foreign Secretary Warns Iran Over Enrichment and Threats on British Soil<\/h3>\n

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy warned Tuesday that the Iranian regime\u2019s nuclear escalation and state-backed threats are under close scrutiny, stating: \u201cIran is now producing roughly one significant quantity of highly enriched uranium every six weeks. That is 40 times above the limit in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking in the U.K. Parliament<\/a> on May 13, Lammy declared: \u201cIran must never develop a nuclear weapon; it must reverse its escalations\u2026 [and] must not carry out any critical weaponization work\u2026 these terms have to be fully verifiable. Unless we get that, we will see a snapback of the sanctions regime that we struck with it 10 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to questioning from MPs over why the UK has not proscribed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which was described as \u201cthe terrorism export wing of the despotic regime in Tehran,\u201d Lammy said: \u201cWe keep proscription under review\u2026 We are looking closely at the area of state threats; that is traditionally very different from the sorts of cells and terrorist communities that we do proscribe.\u201d<\/p>\n

No to Execution: Protests in Tehran and 19 Cities Against the Death Penalty<\/h3>\n

On the 68th week of the \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays\u201d campaign,\u00a0families of political prisoners<\/a>\u00a0gathered in Tehran and at least 19 other cities across Iran, demanding the immediate abolition of the death penalty.<\/p>\n

The coordinated nationwide protests took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, as part of a broad and ongoing campaign both inside and outside Iran\u2019s prisons.<\/p>\n
