Held nearly four decades after the regime\u2019s own genocidal massacres of the 1980s, this court proceeding is less about accountability and more about deflection\u2014attempting to smear the very opposition it failed to crush through execution and censorship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irna.ir\/news\/85857175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The trial<\/a>, staged in Tehran, centers not only on long-discredited allegations, but on contradictory, fabricated witness accounts, often sourced from former regime insiders or security agents turned \u201cdefectors.\u201d In one surreal exchange, a witness claimed PMOI fighters opened fire on civilians in a northern village\u2014while simultaneously admitting the same individuals were members of the IRGC or affiliated militias. The contradictions were so stark that even the judge, a cleric himself, noted \u201cinsufficient investigation\u201d and glaring gaps in the indictment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the heart of the regime\u2019s case is the claim that the PMOI has engaged in terrorism and murdered civilians. Yet this narrative collapses under the weight of international legal findings. Courts and authorities in the UK, France, the European Union, and the United States have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delistmek.com\/court-rulings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed the PMOI<\/a> from terrorist lists after exhaustive reviews. Not a single case has been substantiated in court proving the group\u2019s involvement in targeting civilians. Besieged by internal crises, economic freefall, and a society brimming with unrest, Tehran is terrified that a disenfranchised youth will seek out genuine alternatives for dissent and regime change. The PMOI, with its organized structure, deep roots inside Iran, and growing legitimacy abroad, presents that very alternative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is why the regime isn\u2019t content with just prosecuting Resistance leaders in absentia\u2014it now attempts to intimidate their Western hosts. In court, regime officials declared that European countries like France, Germany, and the UK could be held \u201ccriminally liable\u201d for allowing PMOI leaders to reside or speak on their soil. The warning extended even to citizens of these countries, claiming that support for the group \u201cinvites prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Such threats are a direct response to <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/free-iran-2025\/2025\/06\/the-second-free-iran-2025-conference-global-call-for-democratic-republic-and-resistance-support\/74320\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growing international solidarity<\/a> with the Iranian Resistance, seen in dozens of parliamentary hearings, human rights forums, and public gatherings across democratic countries.
