The conflict\u00a0between Israel and Iran<\/a>\u00a0marks a profound shift in the geopolitical landscape and demands a fundamental reassessment of the United Kingdom\u2019s approach not only to Tehran but to the entire Middle East. Many long-held illusions have been shattered; stark realities have emerged with unprecedented clarity.<\/p>\n

Foremost among these is the exposure of the Iranian regime\u2019s\u00a0profound weakness<\/a>. The end of tyrannical rule is now far from a mere fantasy. Crucially, however, any genuine and enduring change must emanate from the Iranian people themselves and their organised resistance.<\/p>\n

For too long, the British Government has prevaricated on designating Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organisation. This inertia persisted despite growing pressure from within the UK and across the wider Western world. Had we emulated the United States\u2019 decisive 2019 action, we might have significantly deterred and disrupted Iran\u2019s state-sponsored terrorism and its egregious human rights abuses.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Regime Tells People to Take Shelter in Schools and Mosques as Bombings Continue<\/h3>\n

On the third day of the war between Israel and Iran\u2019s regime (Sunday, June 15, 2025), mutual missile attacks and bombings intensified sharply, and extensive, heavy attacks in Tehran and other Iranian cities significantly heightened public anxiety. Meanwhile, amidst the news of relentless attacks and bombings, statements by Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesperson for regime president Masoud Pezeshkian, who spoke of mosques and schools as shelters and safe havens for the worried populace, provoked intense anger and disgust.<\/p>\n

Mohajerani stated on state television: \u201cDuring attacks, naturally, mosques are one of the shelters for the people, and subways are set to be opened tonight and be available to the public, serving them 24 hours a day. We had previously designated schools as safe places. Many schools are recognized as safe locations. Therefore, they are places where people can go to take shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n
