The escalation in the Middle East raises serious questions and concerns. Just one day before Israel launched its strike on Iran, the UN\u2019s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution condemning the Iranian regime\u2019s lack of cooperation with inspectors and its illegal nuclear activities.<\/p>\n

The resolution\u2014the first of its kind in nearly 20 years\u2014followed several alarming reports by the IAEA revealing secret nuclear sites, uranium enrichment close to weapons-grade levels, and persistent violations of inspection commitments. According to the resolution, the regime is in breach of its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. The next step could see the matter referred to the UN Security Council with demands for further action against the regime.<\/p>\n

Antonio L\u00f3pez-Ist\u00fariz White, a Spanish politician and Member of the European Parliament, warned Europeans had become soft after 80 years of peace and refused to see clear and present dangers coming down the tracks.<\/p>\n

At a special meeting at the Parliament in Strasbourg today, convened to allow leader of Iran\u2019s de facto opposition Maryam Rajavi address delegates, Mr. L\u00f3pez-Ist\u00fariz White said: \u201cI have stated in the European Parliament to colleagues who are a little lost that after Israel<\/a>\u00a0the next target would be Europe.<\/p>\n

Mrs Rajavi is the President Elect and lead member of the National Council for Resistance in Iran – a movement dedicated to ridding Iran of its theocractic dicatator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and installing Western-style democracy.<\/p>\n

She warned that the West\u2019s 40-year policy of appeasing the mullahs had been disastrous and added: \u201cTwenty-one years ago, I stood in this very parliament and declared that the solution for Iran lies neither in appeasement nor in war, but in a third option: regime change by the people of Iran and the organised resistance.<\/p>\n

Iranian Political Prisoner Ali Younesi Transferred from Evin Prison to an Unknown Location<\/h3>\n

Aida Younesi, sister of Ali Younesi\u2014a top student at Sharif University and a political prisoner\u2014announced on her X account today, Wednesday, June 18, that agents of the Ministry of Intelligence forcibly abducted her brother from Ward 4 of Evin Prison and transferred him to an unknown location.\u00a0She expressed deep concern, writing: \u201cMy mother is having seizures from worry. We don\u2019t know where they have taken Ali.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aida described this act as \u201cshamelessness\u201d and a sign of the regime\u2019s \u201crage and resentment\u201d toward political prisoners.<\/p>\n

Ali Younesi, a gold medalist in the International Astronomy Olympiad and a computer engineering student at Sharif University, was arrested in March 2020 along with Amir Hossein Moradi on charges of \u201clinks with the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)\u201d and \u201cspreading corruption on Earth.\u201d In 2022, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.<\/p>\n

A look into the background of Ali Shademani, commander of the IRGC Central Headquarters<\/h3>\n

Major General Ali Shademani, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has a long history of suppressing the Iranian people and committing human rights violations. Ali Shademani joined the IRGC in 1979. He was an active member during the Iran-Iraq war and served as the commander of the Ansar al-Hossein Division 32 from 1986 to 1988.\u00a0Shademani first met\u00a0Hossein Hamedani\u2014an IRGC commander<\/a>\u00a0who was killed in Syria in 2015 as part of the Iranian regime\u2019s intervention in the country\u2014shortly after the 1979 revolution in the city of Hamedan. This relationship eventually led to terrorist operations outside Iran\u2019s borders, including in Syria and Iraq.<\/p>\n

After the revolution, Ali Shademani accompanied Hamedani to the city of Paveh to suppress the people of Kurdistan. Shademani then spent six months in Sanandaj and Saqqez engaged in violent crackdowns and killings of Kurds in the region.<\/p>\n
