He drew a parallel between that moment and France\u2019s own historic call to resist tyranny in 1940, linking two peoples, two struggles, and a shared fight for sovereignty and freedom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"1216\">Brard denounced the regime\u2019s decades-long brutality, including <a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/1988-massacre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 1988 massacre<\/a> of over 30,000 political prisoners, and condemned the international community\u2019s appeasement, which he said emboldened Tehran\u2019s repression. Citing past warnings by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, he emphasized the failure of compromise and the clarity of the NCRI\u2019s third option: democratic change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1503\">Brard praised the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/maryam-rajavis-ten-point-plan-for-future-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCRI\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a> as a democratic program rooted in universal values\u2014freedom, equality, and secular governance. He highlighted the thousands of resistance units active inside Iran, calling them the force that will ultimately deliver the final blow to the regime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1505\" data-end=\"1705\">He closed by quoting a revolutionary truth: \u201cReal revolutionaries are those who see the beacon of freedom in the darkness\u2014long before others can.\u201d He ended with certainty: the Iranian people will win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1849\"><strong data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1849\">A translated version of Jean-Pierre Brard\u2019s speech follows. Portions have been lightly edited for clarity and flow.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Former French MP Jean Pierre Brard: &quot;21 years ago, Maryam Rajavi declared: The solution is neither appeasement nor war, but a third option\u2014democratic change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranThirdOption?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranThirdOption<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NCRIAlternative?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NCRIAlternative<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7505rma45D\">pic.twitter.com\/7505rma45D<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; SIMAY AZADI TV (@en_simayazadi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/en_simayazadi\/status\/1936426690567135284?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 21, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"298\" data-end=\"436\">Dear friends from Iran, dear German friends who, like we French, have stood faithfully alongside our Iranian friends for so long\u2014good day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"438\" data-end=\"606\">Today we gather on June 20, the anniversary of a historic turning point: the 1981 uprising\u2014the day the resistance against the mullahs\u2019 dictatorship in Iran truly began.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"822\">Just a few days earlier, in our own country, France, we commemorated another foundational call to resistance: June 18, 1940, when General de Gaulle, from exile in London, called on all free French people to resist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"997\">Two dates, two peoples, two struggles against tyranny: one against foreign occupation, the other against religious obscurantism and the brutal theft of national sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1233\">On June 20, 1981\u2014after all peaceful avenues for political participation had been blocked\u2014500,000 peaceful demonstrators took to the streets of Tehran. They were met by bullets from the Revolutionary Guard, on Khomeini\u2019s direct orders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1461\">That day, the resistance decided it would no longer retreat. And since then, it has never been silenced: 43 years of struggle, sacrifice, and perseverance. In that time, over 100,000 opponents of the regime have been executed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1653\">In 1988 alone, more than 30,000 political prisoners\u2014most of them members or supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin\u2014were massacred over a few short months, following a fatwa issued by Khomeini.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1930\">These crimes are now recognized as crimes against humanity. Some experts even speak of genocide. Under the mullahs, Iran still holds the grim distinction of having the world\u2019s highest per-capita execution rate. Since August 2024, at least 1,350 executions have been recorded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"2075\">And yet\u2014today, hope is in the air. You feel it more than anyone else. The road is still long, but victory has never been closer than it is now.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2077\" data-end=\"2185\">Let me be clear: I am not speaking of Israeli bombings of Iran. But your strength\u2014your legitimacy\u2014comes from walking alongside the people. And today, more than ever, your view of things is being confirmed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2627\" data-end=\"2700\">Just two days ago, Maryam Rajavi said at the European Parliament\u2014I quote: \u201cTwenty-one years ago, I declared in this very plenary chamber: the solution is neither appeasement nor war, but a third path\u2014democratic change through the Iranian people and their organized resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2911\" data-end=\"3148\">But for years, appeasement reigned. In 2002, the National Council of Resistance of Iran exposed a secret military nuclear program of the regime\u2014an exposure the world knew nothing about until then. And how did Western democracies respond?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3150\" data-end=\"3341\">They began negotiating with the perpetrators\u2014not with those who had revealed the truth. Worse still, they fulfilled the regime\u2019s demand by placing the resistance itself on the terrorist list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3343\" data-end=\"3403\">Almost 30 years ago, Maryam Rajavi warned\u2014and I quote again: \u201cThe policy of compromise and appeasement encourages the regime to continue its repression and inevitably leads to war.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jean -Pierre Brard, Ex-member of the French National Assembly opens conference in Paris <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/campashraf?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#campashraf<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#iran<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/391554054884569088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 19, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3531\" data-end=\"3601\">But appeasement was chosen out of fear of war. As Churchill once said: \u201cYou were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor\u2014and you will have war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3704\" data-end=\"3860\">Yet your resistance has not weakened\u2014on the contrary. Today, it is rooted in a clear program: the Ten-Point Plan, represented by Maryam Rajavi and the NCRI.\u00a0It is based on universal values for which many peoples have given their lives: liberty, equality, fraternity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3973\" data-end=\"3993\">This plan calls for:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3994\" data-end=\"4348\">\n<li data-start=\"3994\" data-end=\"4015\">\n<p data-start=\"3996\" data-end=\"4015\">Freedom of speech<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4016\" data-end=\"4039\">\n<p data-start=\"4018\" data-end=\"4039\">Freedom of assembly<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4040\" data-end=\"4097\">\n<p data-start=\"4042\" data-end=\"4097\">Freedom of the press and freedom of political parties<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4098\" data-end=\"4134\">\n<p data-start=\"4100\" data-end=\"4134\">Separation of religion and state<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4135\" data-end=\"4164\">\n<p data-start=\"4137\" data-end=\"4164\">Freedom of belief for all<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4165\" data-end=\"4189\">\n<p data-start=\"4167\" data-end=\"4189\">Full gender equality<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4190\" data-end=\"4260\">\n<p data-start=\"4192\" data-end=\"4260\">Autonomy for ethnic minorities and an end to their dual oppression<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4261\" data-end=\"4289\">\n<p data-start=\"4263\" data-end=\"4289\">Environmental protection<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4290\" data-end=\"4348\">\n<p data-start=\"4292\" data-end=\"4348\">A nuclear-free Iran, without weapons of mass destruction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4350\" data-end=\"4538\">Today, this struggle inside Iran is carried forward by thousands of active Resistance Units. In just one year, they have carried out over 3,000 actions against the machinery of repression.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4540\" data-end=\"4668\">It is this internal resistance\u2014this deeply rooted network within Iranian society\u2014that will ultimately deliver the decisive blow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4670\" data-end=\"4829\">As a famous revolutionary once said: \u201cTrue revolutionaries are those who see the beacon of freedom in the darkness, long before others can recognize it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4831\" data-end=\"4905\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">So\u2014you will win. You will win.
