Strasbourg, France<\/strong> \u2013 On June 18, 2025, the European Parliament hosted a major conference to address the escalating crisis emanating from Iran. At a moment described by speakers as “critical” and “existential,” a diverse, cross-party assembly of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), former prime ministers, and esteemed legal experts gathered to hear from Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The event focused on the failures of past international policies toward Tehran and underscored the necessity of supporting the Iranian people\u2019s struggle for a secular, democratic republic, presenting a viable path forward for a nation long suppressed by dictatorship.<\/p>\n

Maryam Rajavi Outlines a Vision for a Democratic Future<\/h3>\n

In her keynote address<\/a>, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/strong> presented a stark assessment of the situation, framing the ongoing turmoil as the culmination of a “44-year war” waged by the theocratic regime against its own people. She highlighted the regime\u2019s escalating wave of mass executions and its relentless pursuit of nuclear weapons as desperate measures to ensure its survival.<\/p>\n

Rejecting both appeasement of the mullahs and foreign military intervention, Mrs. Rajavi championed the “Third Option”\u2014democratic change brought about by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. “The only solution to this conflict is the overthrow of this regime by the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance,” she asserted. She outlined the NCRI\u2019s comprehensive Ten-Point Plan<\/a> for a future Iran, emphasizing a transitional government that would organize free elections for a constituent assembly, and reaffirmed the movement\u2019s ultimate objective. “Our goal is not to seize power at any cost. Our goal is to guarantee freedom, democracy, and the Iranian people\u2019s free choice\u2014no matter the cost.”<\/p>\n

Some 60 political prisoners currently face death sentences, many of whom are accused of membership in the PMOI. Their \u201ccrime\u201d is demanding a free, democratic, just, and orderly society.
