Brussels (eu24news)<\/strong> \u2013 Hundreds of members of the Iranian diaspora gathered on July 9 at the Schuman Roundabout, in front of the European Commission, to protest the ongoing repression in Iran and to demand democratic change led by the Iranian people.<\/p>\n

The demonstration, organized by supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), drew families, activists, and youth\u2014many carrying signs and banners with the slogan: \u201cNo to war, no to appeasement \u2013 yes to the Third Option.\u201d<\/p>\n

Protesters condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s recent crackdown, accusing it of exploiting the conflict with Israel and the resulting regional instability to intensify domestic repression, including mass arrests, torture, and new death sentences targeting political dissidents.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Today, the Department of the Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating 22 entities based in Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and T\u00fcrkiye for their roles in facilitating the sale of Iranian oil that benefits the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF). \u00a0The IRGC-QF is Iran\u2019s most powerful paramilitary force and a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).<\/p>\n

The IRGC-QF primarily leverages front companies outside of Iran, which use offshore accounts to transfer hundreds of millions of dollars in profits derived from Iranian oil sales to circumvent sanctions and funnel funds toward IRGC-QF terrorist activities.\u00a0 Refineries purchasing Iranian oil transfer payments to these front companies, which then move the funds to other front company accounts also controlled by the IRGC-QF.\u00a0 Iran uses these proceeds to fund its weapons programs and support its terrorist proxies and partners across the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Six Crew Rescued, 15 Missing After Houthis Sink Latest Greek Ship in Red Sea<\/h3>\n

ATHENS, July 9 (Reuters) – Rescuers pulled six crew members alive from the Red Sea after Houthi militants attacked and sank a second ship this week, while the fate of another 15 was unknown after the Iran-aligned group said they held some of the seafarers.<\/p>\n

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the assault that maritime officials say killed four of the 25 people aboard the Eternity C before the rest abandoned the cargo ship. Eternity C went down Wednesday morning after attacks on two previous days, sources at security companies involved in a rescue operation said.<\/p>\n

The six rescued seafarers spent more than 24 hours in the water, those firms said.<\/p>\n

The United States Mission in Yemen accused the Houthis of kidnapping many surviving crew members from Eternity C and called for their immediate and unconditional safe release.<\/p>\n

In December 2024, 38-year-old Iranian national Mohammad Abedini Najafabadi was arrested in Rome. The engineer is the CEO of SDRA, a company that manufactures navigation systems for Iranian drones and missiles. The firm\u2019s main clients include the Revolutionary Guards, Iran\u2019s elite military force. Drones have become a key export product of the clerical dictatorship. Russia uses them against Ukraine; Iran and its regional allies deploy them against Israel. The systems are inexpensive, effective\u2014and incorporate high-tech components sourced from the West.<\/p>\n

Political Prisoner Massoumeh Senobari Brutalized in Fardis Prison<\/h3>\n

Political prisoner Massoumeh Senobari was brutally beaten and severely bruised by prison officials in Fardis Prison in Karaj, on Sunday, July 6, 2025.<\/p>\n

Ms. Senobari had been identified as one of the leading voices behind anti-regime chants during the conclusion of an Ashura religious ceremony in the women\u2019s ward of\u00a0Fardis Prison<\/a>. A group of female inmates chanted slogans such as \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d \u201cCurse be upon Khomeini,\u201d and \u201cSalute to Hossein,\u201d openly expressing their dissent toward the mullahs\u2019 regime before the ceremony closed.<\/p>\n

In response to the protest, the head of the women\u2019s ward, named Kolivand, summoned\u00a0Massoumeh Senobari<\/a> to her office, where according to informed sources inside the prison, she was violently assaulted.\u00a0Ms. Senobari reportedly returned to the ward with severe bruising on her face and body and was unable to stand without assistance.<\/p>\n
