\u201cJust three days ago, the religious dictatorship in Iran committed yet another heinous crime: the execution of two members of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. This brutal act is part of an ongoing pattern of repression, a crime against young Iranians whose only fault is their desire for freedom,\u201d Rajavi declared.<\/p>\n

The most moving moment came when she invoked the names of 14 PMOI political prisoners currently on death row. \u201cTheir names must not be forgotten. Their fate cannot depend solely on the mercy of a dictator. Europe and Italy must act,\u201d<\/em> she urged.<\/p>\n

Rome Protest Against Executions in Iran: \u201cEnough is Enough\u201d<\/h3>\n

Dozens of photos of people killed in Iran from the 1980s to the present were displayed in central Rome during a protest condemning the latest executions of two Iranian citizens, Behrouz Ehsani, 69, and Mehdi Hassani, 48. The two men were hanged on July 27 in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj, Alborz province, following what Amnesty International described as a \u201cgrossly unfair trial\u201d lasting only five minutes. According to Amnesty, they were convicted on vague charges of armed rebellion against the state, \u201cwar against God,\u201d and \u201ccorruption on earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among those contributing on behalf of Italian institutions was MP Naike Gruppioni, who emphasized the political importance of the initiative: “The Italian Parliament has a duty to listen to and give space to voices that represent the freedom and dignity of peoples. Sanctions Against Terrorism: Council Renews the EU Terrorist List<\/h3>\n

The Council decided today to\u00a0renew the list<\/strong>\u00a0of persons, groups and entities subject to restrictive measures with a view to combatting terrorism, delisting one deceased person and\u00a0maintaining the rest unchanged<\/strong>.\u00a0There are currently\u00a013 persons and 22 groups<\/strong>\u00a0and entities subject to the restrictive measures in force, which consist of the freezing of funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU member states. It is also prohibited for EU operators to make funds and economic resources available to those listed.<\/p>\n

The EU Terrorist List, i.e. the sanctions regime set out in Common Position 2001\/931\/CFSP, is separate from the EU regime implementing UN Security Council resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) and targeting Al-Qaida and ISIL\/Da’esh.<\/p>\n

Trump said the U.S. would wipe out Iran’s nuclear facilities even faster a second time.<\/p>\n

US Hits Iranian Shipping Network with Major New Sanctions<\/h3>\n

WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) – The U.S. Treasury Department announced fresh sanctions on Wednesday on over 115 Iran-linked individuals, entities and vessels, in a sign the Trump administration is doubling down on its\u00a0“maximum pressure” campaign<\/a>\u00a0after bombing Tehran’s key nuclear sites in June.<\/p>\n

The sanctions broadly target the shipping interests of Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Ali Shamkhani, who is himself an adviser to Supreme Leader\u00a0Ayatollah Ali Khamenei<\/a>. The U.S. Treasury said it was the most significant Iran-related sanctions action since 2018, during President Donald Trump’s first administration.<\/p>\n

Overall,\u00a0the new sanctions<\/a>\u00a0target 15 shipping firms, 52 vessels, 12 individuals and 53 entities involved in sanctions evasion in 17 countries, ranging from Panama to Italy to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
