{"id":335367,"date":"2025-08-08T17:59:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T16:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=335367"},"modified":"2025-08-08T17:59:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T16:59:07","slug":"separation-of-5-iranian-political-prisoners-sentenced-to-death-on-charges-of-membership-in-pmoi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/separation-of-5-iranian-political-prisoners-sentenced-to-death-on-charges-of-membership-in-pmoi\/","title":{"rendered":"Separation of 5 Iranian Political Prisoners Sentenced to Death on Charges of Membership in PMOI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-243863\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI.jpg\" alt=\"NCRI\" width=\"1000\" height=\"562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NCRI-696x391.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-218888 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/NCRI-50.jpg\" alt=\"NCRI logo\" width=\"75\" height=\"69\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is reported that they have been taken to Ghezel Hesar Prison, an execution site<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>International Call for Immediate Action to Inquire About the Status of These Prisoners and to Save Their Lives<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Friday morning, August 8, 2025, Iranian regime authorities transferred the political prisoners who had been moved from Evin Prison to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.iranhrs.org\/fashafuyeh-prison-knife-attack-on-two-political-prisoners-echoes-of-alireza-shirmohammadalis-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fashafuyeh Prison<\/a> in late June back to Evin Prison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, five death row political prisoners\u2014Vahid Bani-Amerian, Pouya Ghobadi, Shahrokh Daneshvarkar, Mohammad Taghavi, and Babak Alipour\u2014were violently separated from other prisoners and taken to an unknown location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reportedly, they have been transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison, where executions are carried out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These prisoners were sentenced to death in December 2024 by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Iman Afshari, on charges of &#8220;membership in the People&#8217;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-the-peoples-mojahedin-organization-of-iran-pmoi-mek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PMOI\/MEK<\/a>)&#8221;, &#8220;assembly and collusion against national security&#8221;, and &#8220;armed rebellion against the state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Babak Alipour<\/strong>, 34, a law graduate, was arrested in January 2024. He had previously been arrested in November 2018 in Rasht (northern Iran) and served four years in prison.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pouya Ghobadi<\/strong>, 33, an electrical engineer, was arrested in March 2024. He had been previously arrested twice.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shahrokh Daneshvarkar<\/strong>, 58, a civil engineer, was arrested in January 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mohammad Taghavi<\/strong>, 59, is a former political prisoner from the 1980s and 1990s. He was previously arrested in 2020 and spent three years in prison on charges of association with the PMO\/MEK.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vahid Bani Amerian<\/strong>, 33, holds a master\u2019s degree in management and was arrested in January 2024. Since 2017, he has been imprisoned multiple times, serving a total of four years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN High Commissioner, the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in Iran, and international human rights organizations to take immediate action to inquire about the status of these five prisoners and to save their lives, as they are at risk of execution. It is essential to know the status of all transferred prisoners and what has happened to them during their transfer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Secretariat of the<a
