In response, the regime released a statement titled <em data-start=\"405\" data-end=\"479\">\u201cProtest Letter from Families of Terror Victims to Italian Authorities.\u201d<\/em> The language and tone leave little doubt that it was drafted under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the regime\u2019s so-called \u201cNejat Association\u201d \u2014 an affiliate of the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) \u2014 serving as its public front.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the regime\u2019s state-run <a href=\"https:\/\/defapress.ir\/fa\/news\/768587\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Defa Press Agency<\/a> on August 8, 2025, the letter was presented as \u201can open protest letter to the judicial authorities and the presidents of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">International <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FreeIran2025?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FreeIran2025<\/a> Summit in Rome, Italy  brought global voices together in support of a democratic, secular republic in Iran.  Mrs. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maryam_Rajavi?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Maryam_Rajavi<\/a> was the keynote speaker as well as dignitaries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CharlesMichel?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CharlesMichel<\/a>, Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RudyGiuliani?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RudyGiuliani<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarlaHSands?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CarlaHSands<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/matteorenzi?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@matteorenzi<\/a>,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/D6kRjUbFD4\">pic.twitter.com\/D6kRjUbFD4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; SIMAY AZADI TV (@en_simayazadi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/en_simayazadi\/status\/1953200629859705032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 6, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regime Letter Admits PMOI\u2019s International Standing<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ironically, the text repeatedly acknowledges the PMOI\u2019s international credibility and even details the high political profile of participants in the Rome conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It notes, with apparent frustration:\u00a0\u201cSome Italian politicians, for unknown reasons, support this group and even arrange programs to promote it in Italy. The action of the Vice President of the Italian Parliament, who recently awarded a prize to one of the members of this group, and the recent invitation by some Italian politicians to the leader of this group on June 30 to Rome, where she delivered a speech in the Italian Parliament\u2026 These politicians are members of parliament and recognized as representatives of the Italian people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The regime\u2019s letter goes further, displaying the theocratic dictatorship\u2019s intrinsic ignorance of democratic norms. It seeks to lecture European legislators on their own laws, threatening that \u201cpromoting terrorist activities through the media or any other public means is a crime and punishable by imprisonment.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>\u2019s Regime Admits Failure in 44-Year Effort to Discredit <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MEK?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MEK<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rgxK3iXWrE\">https:\/\/t.co\/rgxK3iXWrE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1751886856122155244?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 29, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unintended Confession About EU Delisting<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"77\" data-end=\"466\">In another revealing admission, the letter undercuts years of spin from the regime\u2019s lobby groups and mouthpieces, which have long claimed the PMOI&#8217;s removal from the EU terror list was the result of political pressure or PR campaigns. It concedes instead that the 2009 delisting \u201cwas due to judicial rulings\u201d \u2014 an acknowledgment that the decision was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delistmek.com\/court-rulings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grounded in law<\/a>, not backroom deals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This grudging acknowledgment undermines the regime\u2019s decades-long false narrative and reaffirms the PMOI\u2019s lawful standing.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Real Source of Tehran\u2019s Fury<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The regime\u2019s true outrage lies in the fact that the Free Iran Summit in Rome, attended by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), fully complied with Italian and European legal frameworks. The regime has never dared to accept this challenge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Instead, the regime orchestrates crude spectacles\u2014such as staged \u201cfamilies of terror\u201d events and a so-called<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/demonizing-mek\/tehrans-35th-sham-trial-aims-to-intimidate-resistance-rewrite-history-and-silence-global-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> trial against 104 members<\/a> of the Iranian Resistance\u2014in an attempt to evade international law and hide from the historic legitimacy and 46-year record of the PMOI\u2019s struggle for freedom in Iran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest smear attempt, much like its predecessors, only underscores the regime\u2019s fear: the PMOI represents
