Former FAA Contractor Sentenced for Illegally Acting as an Agent of the Iranian Government<\/h3>\n

WASHINGTON \u2013 Abouzar Rahmati, 43, a naturalized U.S. citizen and resident of Great Falls, Virginia, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 12 months in federal prison for acting as an illegal agent of the Iranian government in the United States, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.<\/p>\n

Rahmati, a former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contractor, pleaded guilty on April 16, 2025, to acting as an agent of the Iranian government without prior notification to the Attorney General and to conspiracy to do so, before U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan. In addition to the 12-month prison term, Judge AliKhan ordered Rahmati to serve three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n

Joining in the announcement were Assistant Attorney General John A. Eisenberg of the Justice Department\u2019s National Security Division, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Daniel Wierzbicki of the Counterintelligence and Cyber Division.<\/p>\n

Maliheh Haghi: Iran Regime Hangs 34-year-old Woman in Tabriz<\/h3>\n

At dawn on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the mullahs\u2019 Judiciary hanged Maliheh Haghi, a 34-year-old prisoner in the Central Prison of Tabriz. Maliheh Haghi had been arrested six years ago on charges of murdering her fianc\u00e9 and was subsequently sentenced to death by the clerical regime\u2019s judiciary. Despite the execution, as of the time of this report\u2019s publication, neither judicial authorities nor officials at Tabriz Prison have issued any formal confirmation of the execution. The execution of Maliheh Haghi in Tabriz Prison brings the total number of women executed in Iran in 2025 to 30. In less than a month, the clerical regime has executed six women.<\/p>\n
