Yet, just five months later, the regime\u2019s own president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has effectively undermined this propaganda slogan by admitting: \u201cI do not want to create development at all. First comes people\u2019s bread.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the state-run <a href=\"https:\/\/fararu.com\/fa\/news\/897587\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Fararu<\/em> website (August 24, 2025)<\/a>, Pezeshkian, during a meeting with media managers, was forced to expose the regime\u2019s parasitic network of institutions: \u201cWe have countless institutions and foundations that produce nothing, and we give them money. Why should we pay them when we cannot provide for people\u2019s livelihoods?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This rare admission sheds light on the core of Iran\u2019s economic and social catastrophe\u2014resources are systematically looted by regime-affiliated foundations and institutions while millions of Iranians struggle to survive.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fact-Checking Khamenei\u2019s Nowruz Speech in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> Reveals Economic Crisis and Veiled Response to U.S.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qfizpBV2bv\">https:\/\/t.co\/qfizpBV2bv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1903854711033233679?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 23, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cResources Are Spent on Other Things\u201d<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pezeshkian himself acknowledged the bitter truth: \u201cFinancial resources are spent on other things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This echoes the cries of Iranian society for the past two decades: national wealth is diverted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/economy\/delving-into-irans-corruption-chronicles-part-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corrupt foundations<\/a>, the clerical establishment, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), rather than to the people. The November 2019 uprising was fueled precisely by the regime\u2019s theft of resources to feed these parasitic networks.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Undermining Khamenei\u2019s Own Slogan<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his remarks, Pezeshkian even contradicted Khamenei\u2019s \u201cYear of National Production\u201d narrative:\u00a0\u201cDevelopment will not be possible without meeting basic needs. Solving these problems is not simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In effect, he poured cold water on the regime\u2019s official propaganda, exposing the emptiness of its slogans and its inability to address Iran\u2019s deepening economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The regime\u2019s own media has been compelled to highlight this reality. The state-run<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ettelaat.com\/news\/109052\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <em>Ettela&#8217;at Daily<\/em>\u00a0(August 24, 2025) pointed<\/a> directly at one of the regime\u2019s institutions of repression and corruption: \u201cMr. President! Start with the Headquarters for Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil. What is its real function? What is its output? When virtue can be promoted in a mosque, why should it receive a budget of 123 billion tomans?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The same outlet went further, mocking the regime\u2019s hollow slogans: \u201cWe have gone from concerns about development to concerns about providing bread. We spend people\u2019s bread money on organizations whose political and cultural weight in society is no more than 25%.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>\u2019s Top Officials Warn of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mojahedineng?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Mojahedineng<\/a> Influence and Looming Revolt<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uJxSXN18t9\">https:\/\/t.co\/uJxSXN18t9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1913336622310891951?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Admissions of Defeat<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These forced acknowledgments by regime officials and media reflect a deeper reality: despite vast budgets, foundations, and propaganda, the regime has failed to impose its ideological \u201clifestyle\u201d on society. As <em>Ettela&#8217;at<\/em>\u00a0admitted: \u201cThe Mahsa movement of 2022 and the 2024 elections should have made it clear that most people will not accept the lifestyle the regime wants to impose. No amount of budget or propaganda can change this.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A System Built on Looting, Not Development<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These statements expose what the Iranian people have long known: the regime is not interested in development or meeting people\u2019s needs. Instead, it has built an oligarchic system of theft and privilege for the supreme leader\u2019s foundations, the clerical establishment, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.janes.com\/osint-insights\/defence-and-national-security-analysis\/the-sources-of-iran-irgc-financial-empire-and-their-sustainability-in-the-medium-to-long-term\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRGC\u2019s vast economic empire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The so-called \u201cYear of National Production\u201d is nothing more than a cover for plunder. The real outcome is deepening poverty, soaring inflation, and the widening class gap between ordinary Iranians and regime elites.
