BOSTON \u2013 The United States Attorney\u2019s Office filed a civil forfeiture action to recover approximately $584,741 in cryptocurrency alleged to be the property of Mohammad Abedininajafabadi, a\/k\/a Mohammad Abedini (Abedini), 39, of Tehran, Iran and\/or his company San\u2019at Danesh Rahpooyan Aflak Co. (SDRA). The government seized USDT (Tether) from an un-hosted cryptocurrency wallet alleged to be controlled by Abedini. USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin, meaning its value is tied to the U.S. dollar.<\/div>\n

Abedini was detained by Italian authorities on Dec. 16, 2024 but was later released in January 2025. He is believed to be in Iran.<\/div>\n

Iran: IAEA Access Frozen as Post-War Damage Leaves Enrichment Program \u201cInoperative,\u201d Analysis Says<\/h3>\n

\"isisA new assessment<\/a> by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) finds the IAEA has had no on-site access in Iran since mid-June, apart from Bushehr, after inspectors were withdrawn during the 12-Day War and Tehran suspended cooperation in July. Citing the IAEA\u2019s Sept. 3 reports, the authors say the Agency has \u201clost continuity of knowledge\u201d over Iran\u2019s low- and highly enriched uranium (HEU) and urges inspections to **resume \u201cwithout delay.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the eve of the war, Iran held 440.9 kg of up-to-60% HEU, 184.1 kg up to 20%, and over 8,000 kg below 5% U-235. The IAEA notes monthly HEU verification is overdue and calls the stock \u201ca matter of serious concern.\u201d<\/p>\n

The analysis concludes Israeli-U.S. strikes destroyed or rendered inoperative nearly 22,000 centrifuges at Natanz, Fordow, and Esfahan, leaving \u201cno identifiable route\u201d to weapon-grade output for the first time in 15 years. The Iranian regime has barred access to sites including the new Isfahan Fuel Enrichment Plant, reportedly within a tunnel complex damaged in the attacks.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is designating 32 individuals and entities and identifying four vessels in Treasury\u2019s largest sanctions action to date targeting Iran-backed Ansarallah, commonly known as the Houthis. \u00a0The networks targeted today are part of the Houthis\u2019 global illicit fundraising, smuggling, and weapons procurement operations, and include Houthi-associated companies, their owners, and other key Houthi operatives located in Yemen, China, the United Arab Emirates, and the Marshall Islands.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Houthis continue to threaten U.S. personnel and assets in the Red Sea, attack our allies in the region, and undermine international maritime security in coordination with the Iranian regime,\u201d said\u00a0Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K.
