At a major rally in New York<\/a> City on September 23, 2025, Carla Sands, former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, delivered a forceful speech, warning that nearly 1,800 executions have been carried out under the Iranian regime’s president Masoud Pezeshkian and describing the regime as terrified of its own people. \u201cThe Iranian people have been silenced inside their own country. But here, right here, their voices are heard loudly, clearly, and with urgency,\u201d she said, pointing to the thousands gathered in front of the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Amb. Sands emphasized that the regime\u2019s fear is rooted in the strength of the organized Resistance. \u201cIt was the MEK that first exposed Tehran\u2019s secret nuclear weapons program,\u201d she noted, arguing that demonization of the group is proof that it poses an existential threat to the clerical rulers. She recalled meeting NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, praising her \u201cunwavering commitment\u201d and her \u201celevation of women into the highest ranks of the resistance.\u201d Sands endorsed Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a> as a \u201croadmap to freedom rooted in equality and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rejecting monarchist claims as another form of dictatorship, she declared, \u201cThe people will not trade a turban for a crown. Reza Pahlavi\u2019s plan is not democracy, it\u2019s dictatorship.\u201d She concluded that the only solution is the Iranian people and their organized Resistance.<\/p>\n
