Opening the event, <strong data-start=\"608\" data-end=\"629\">Narges Rahmanfard<\/strong>\u00a0honored the sacrifice of protesters killed since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/latest\/news\/2023\/09\/what-happened-to-mahsa-zhina-amini\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">death of Mahsa Amini<\/a> and underscored support for the Iranian Resistance, particularly the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its president-elect, Maryam Rajavi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"877\" data-end=\"1172\">Rahmanfard reminded the audience that \u201chundreds of people gave their lives for freedom, justice, and dignity in 2022,\u201d and emphasized that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/plan-for-future-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajavi\u2019s Ten-Point Plan<\/a> offers a viable democratic alternative: \u201crejecting both appeasement of the clerical regime and foreign military intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conservative MP for Harrow East and Co-President of the International Committee of Parliamentarians for a Democratic Iran, <strong>Bob Blackman<\/strong>,\u00a0paid tribute to the courage of Iran\u2019s women in leading the 2022 uprising, noting that \u201cthree years on, the demand of the Iranian people has not changed \u2014 it has grown stronger.\u201d Despite mass arrests, executions, and brutal crackdowns, he said, protests and strikes continue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1619\" data-end=\"1944\">He warned that the Iranian regime \u201cposes a direct threat to UK security and democracy,\u201d citing assassination plots, bomb threats, and intimidation of journalists. Blackman rejected both appeasement and military intervention, describing them as tactics the regime exploits to either buy time or portray itself as a victim.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"2342\">Instead, he championed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/regime-change-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajavi\u2019s \u201cthird option\u201d<\/a>: \u201cStand with the Iranian people and the organized resistance movement for democratic change in Iran.\u201d He underlined that the NCRI, with its Resistance Units, is \u201cthe decisive factor in the fight for Iran\u2019s future\u201d and highlighted the Ten-Point Plan as \u201ca roadmap for a free, secular, democratic republic with an orderly transition of power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2534\">Blackman said: \u201cThe people are not seeking a return to the past dictatorship of the Shah, but the birth of a democratic republic.\u201d He also warned against \u201csupporters of the son of the late Shah, who wishes to return to the same position as we had with the Shah. She praised the courage of political prisoners, particularly those involved in the \u201cNo to Executions Tuesday\u201d campaign across dozens of prisons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"3242\">She warned of the regime\u2019s preparations for another mass killing reminiscent of the 1988 massacre of thousands of PMOI members, which UN investigators have described as crimes against humanity, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/countries\/iran\/20240717-SR-Iran-Findings.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">possibly genocide<\/a>. \u201cInternational intervention is both urgent and necessary,\u201d she said, calling on the UK to lead at the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3244\" data-end=\"3592\">Reading from recent Foreign Office correspondence, O\u2019Loan noted that the UK has supported UN resolutions condemning Iran\u2019s execution spree and extending mandates for investigations. Yet she pressed for more decisive action: \u201cThe regime\u2019s supreme leader is directly responsible for these crimes and should be prosecuted as the main perpetrator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3594\" data-end=\"3876\">She concluded: \u201cThe NCRI and Madame Rajavi recognised decades ago that Iran\u2019s future depends on a democratic alternative. Their struggle is not just for themselves but for global peace and security. The regime sees them as the greatest threat to its survival, and so should we.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3904\" data-end=\"3957\">MP and Chair of the APPG for Freedom of Religion or Belief <strong>Jim\u00a0Shannon<\/strong> said he was encouraged by the courage of Iranians and Rajavi\u2019s vision, noting that he had promoted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/maryam-rajavis-ten-point-plan-for-future-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ten-Point Plan<\/a> in a Commons debate earlier this month. He described the regime as part of an \u201caxis of evil,&#8221; guilty of transnational repression and persecution of minorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4275\" data-end=\"4711\">Speaking as chair of the parliamentary group on freedom of belief, he condemned the regime\u2019s violations against women, girls, and religious minorities: \u201cIt never fails to grieve me, aches my heart, to hear of these abuses.\u201d He thanked NCRI representatives for testifying to Parliament about surviving terrorism, saying: \u201cYour courage terrifies the regime because it knows Iranians will fight until Iran is free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"4713\" data-end=\"5042\">Shannon insisted that the regime is at an impasse, unable to meet the people\u2019s demands except through violence. \u201cThe regime has never sought peace or cooperation. It cannot be trusted,\u201d he declared. Drawing on her experience on Parliament\u2019s Intelligence and Security Committee, Villiers cited its July report, which concluded that \u201cIran poses a wide-ranging, persistent and unpredictable threat to the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"5837\" data-end=\"6222\">She warned that the regime\u2019s intelligence services are \u201cferociously well resourced,\u201d operating through proxies and criminal networks. Since 2022, there have been \u201cat least 15 attempts at murder or kidnap of UK-based opponents of the regime.\u201d Villiers urged robust enforcement of new laws against covert Iranian influence, the reimposition of UN sanctions, and <a href=\"https:\/\/committees.parliament.uk\/writtenevidence\/121720\/html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proscription of the IRGC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"6224\" data-end=\"6471\">She concluded: \u201cThe people of Iran deserve far better than oppression. They need the kind of secular, democratic republic set out in the NCRI\u2019s Ten-Point Plan, a blueprint for a free Iran with gender equality, rule of law, and fair elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"6501\" data-end=\"6531\">Member of the House of Lords <strong>Baroness Redfern<\/strong> described the 2022 uprising as \u201cnot about dress code, but about power, oppression and freedom.\u201d She praised Iranians for seeking \u201cnot clerical reform, but a democratic, secular republic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"6740\" data-end=\"7066\">She underscored that protesters are guided by an organized alternative: \u201cThey are rising with leadership, with structure and with a political alternative \u2014 the NCRI, led by Madam Rajavi.\u201d She hailed Rajavi as \u201ca Muslim woman who defies both misogyny and the false narrative that religion and democracy are incompatible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"7068\" data-end=\"7500\">Redfern detailed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/plan-for-future-of-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ten-Point Plan<\/a> as \u201ca foundation for transition with grassroots support inside Iran,\u201d covering universal suffrage, abolition of executions, gender equality, secular governance, and a non-nuclear policy. She called on Parliament to publicly recognize Maryam Rajavi\u2019s leadership, engage diplomatically with the NCRI, support a UN inquiry into mass executions, prescribe the IRGC, and counter misinformation campaigns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"7502\" data-end=\"7751\">\u201cThe winds of change in Iran are real,\u201d she said. \u201cThe regime is fragile, and an alternative already exists with vision, roadmap, and popular support. Yet defiance grows: \u201cThis is not fringe unrest. This is a national movement, a democratic tide, a generational demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"8333\" data-end=\"8606\">She emphasized women\u2019s leadership, noting: \u201cOver half the positions in the NCRI are held by women, reflecting the soul of the movement.\u201d Praising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/viewpoints\/regime-change-in-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajavi\u2019s vision<\/a>, she said: \u201cAt the heart of it is a slogan now etched in millions of hearts: Women, Resistance, Freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"8608\" data-end=\"8915\">McIntyre urged sanctions on human rights abusers, accountability through the UN, and engagement with the NCRI: \u201cWe must end the myth of no alternative and give the Iranian people the benefit of belief.\u201d She concluded: \u201cIran is changing, with or without us. He stressed that today\u2019s movement rejects both monarchy and theocracy: \u201cPeople were chanting: down with the Shah, down with the mullahs, yes to a democratic republic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"9278\" data-end=\"9552\">He warned against illusions in \u201cmoderate\u201d figures like current president Masoud Pezeshkian, under whom executions have surged. The evidence is there,\u201d she said, pointing to 38,000 documented items and nearly 300 testimonies. She warned that Iran\u2019s judiciary is a \u201cmyth,\u201d used only to enforce repression, and urged the UK to support accountability mechanisms through the UN and international law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"1200\">Former judge <strong>Jocelyn Scott<\/strong> rejected both monarchy and theocracy outright: \u201cThere never was a right in dictatorship under the Shah. There can never be a return to monarchy. There never was and never is a right in the mullahs\u2019 theocracy.\u201d She stressed that only the NCRI under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/maryam-rajavi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a> offers a democratic alternative, and urged the UK to back UN referrals, universal jurisdiction cases, and recognition of the NCRI. \u201cStanding by while the regime commits crimes against humanity is unforgivable,\u201d she warned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"9929\" data-end=\"10191\"><strong data-start=\"9929\" data-end=\"9944\">Neda Zabeti<\/strong> highlighted the execution of minors during the uprising, noting \u201c16% of those killed were under 18.\u201d She urged the UK to \u201cend appeasement, close the Iranian embassy, proscribe the IRGC, and recognize the NCRI as the democratic alternative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"10193\" data-end=\"10413\"><strong data-start=\"10193\" data-end=\"10225\">Roza Zabeti <\/strong>underscored the perseverance of campaigns like <em>No to Executions Tuesdays<\/em> inside prisons. She said: \u201cStanding with the Iranian people is both a moral duty and a strategic necessity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"139\" data-end=\"698\"><strong>Professor Chris Imafidon<\/strong> condemned the indifference of Western governments and media, warning that silence makes them complicit. \u201cIgnoring Iran\u2019s repression is almost criminal. We are betraying not just Iranians but our own values of democracy and equality,\u201d he said. He stressed that Tehran\u2019s oppression is exported abroad and undermines global democratic standards.
