A number of prisoners, chanting slogans such as \u201cDeath to the dictator, death to Khamenei, damn Khomeini\u201d, sang and cried out: \u201cSomayeh is ill, yet she too has become a martyr.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The so-called Student News Agency, affiliated with the Basij of Khamenei\u2019s IRGC, by publishing a clip<\/a> on September 25, 2025 of Somayeh Rashidi in which she chants \u201cDeath to Khamenei, hail to Maryam Rajavi\u201d, attempted to cover up the \u201cbeatings,\u201d \u201cdenial of medical treatment,\u201d and other crimes committed by the executioners of Evin and Qarchak against this political prisoner, which led to her martyrdom. With extreme foolishness, it sought to equate this with the label of cooperation between the PMOI and the \u201cZionist regime during the 12-day war\u201d<\/p>\n

Khamenei\u2019s Basij also claimed that Somayeh had been \u201cusing certain illegal drugs,\u201d trying to suggest that her treatment was \u201cineffective for this reason.\u201d It remains unclear whether one should believe her three arrests and torture since 2022 and the ten operations attributed to her by the regime\u2019s judiciary, or the claim of \u201caddiction to synthetic drugs\u201d (Mizan, September 25, 2025).<\/p>\n

A number of political prisoners, in order to inform public opinion and prompt action by the UN Special Rapporteur, have written: \u201cOn May 2, 2025, while writing the slogan \u2018The worker is awake; he despises both mullahs and Shah\u2019, Somayeh Rashidi was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence forces. After spending 24 hours in an undisclosed detention center and being subjected to psychological torture, she was transferred to the women\u2019s ward of Evin Prison on May 3, 2025. Somayeh suffered from epilepsy and was taking medication for it\u2026 While the deceitful and lying media of the regime portrayed Somayeh as an addict in order to erase the traces of their crime under the cover of addiction, the reality is that Somayeh and others like her are not condemned to death because of addiction, but because of their fighting spirit and refusal to submit, which makes them enemies in the eyes of these executioners.<\/em><\/p>\n

The reality, which prisoners in Evin and Qarchak can testify to, is that Somayeh\u2019s illness worsened after her transfer from Evin to Qarchak due to the poor conditions and lack of medical care. Whenever she went to the infirmary, they would say she was feigning illness and send her back to the ward. Then, when she was at the point of death, they took her away, and it is no longer known what became of her.<\/p>\n

Somayeh\u2019s story may be like that of a lone bird, bearing witness to the killing of many innocent women and girls in the women\u2019s general ward of this prison and in other prisons of the clerical regime. Somayeh was neither the first nor will she be the last to be imprisoned and massacred in the prisons of this homeland\u2014the same regime that massacred 30,000 prisoners in 1988\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
