UK Updates Iran Nuclear Sanctions: EIH Bank Remains Under Asset Freeze<\/h3>\n

The UK on 3 October 2025 updated its Iran (Nuclear) sanctions, amending but retaining an asset freeze on Europ\u00e4isch-Iranische Handelsbank AG (EIH Bank), according to an HM Treasury Financial Sanctions Notice.<\/p>\n

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office said<\/a> the UK Sanctions List and the Consolidated List were updated, with EIH Bank (Group ID: 11512) \u201camended and still subject to an asset freeze.\u201d The bank is designated under the Iran (Sanctions) (Nuclear) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 for \u201cproviding financial services, or making available funds or economic resources, that could contribute to a relevant nuclear activity,\u201d including \u201cthe proliferation or development of nuclear weapons\u2026 or the development of a nuclear weapon delivery system\u201d in or for use in Iran.<\/p>\n

The notice sets out what firms must do: \u201ccheck whether you maintain any accounts\u2026 for the persons set out,\u201d \u201cfreeze such accounts,\u201d and \u201crefrain from dealing with the funds\u2026 or making them available\u2026 unless licensed by OFSI,\u201d including refraining from providing specialised financial messaging services. It adds: \u201cFailure to comply with UK financial sanctions legislation\u2026 may be a criminal offence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guidance, legislation and reporting routes are available via GOV.UK, including the UK Sanctions List and OFSI compliance reporting form, the notice said.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Rebellious Youth Target Regime Symbols in Response to the Killing of Political Prisoner Somayeh Rashidi<\/h3>\n

In response to the murder of Iranian political prisoner Somayeh Rashidi and in response to the slow killing of sick political prisoners by the regime\u2019s judiciary, Iran\u2019s heroic rebellious youth carried out a series of operations in Tehran, Karaj, Shahriar, Mashhad, Isfahan, Rasht, Kermanshah, Qazvin, Khorramabad, Islamabad-e Gharb, Iranshahr, and Dorud. In these anti-repression operations, images of regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini and supreme leader Ali Khamenei were set on fire in cities across Iran, and the rebellious youth attacked the regime\u2019s centers of suppression and crime as follows: Two incendiary attacks on regime municipality buildings in Parand, Tehran. Setting fire to a regime building in Mashhad. Setting fire to the Khomeini center of fundamentalism and crime in Islamabad. Setting fire to an IRGC Basij base in Isfahan. Setting fire to regime institutions tasked with repression of citizens in Fuladshahr, Isfahan. Setting fire to IRGC Basij bases in Mashhad, Kermanshah, and Iranshahr. Setting fire to government banners and posters with images of Khomeini and Khamenei in Karaj, Rasht, Shahriar, and Dorud. Setting fire to signboards for the espionage headquarters of the IRGC Basij and the Ministry of Intelligence in Tehran, Qazvin, and Khorramabad.<\/p>\n

Zeinab Jalalian: Forcibly Returned to Prison After Incomplete Surgery<\/h3>\n

\"Zeinab-Jalalian\"<\/p>\n

Zeinab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner and the only woman in Iran serving a life sentence, is reported to be in critical condition. After undergoing fibroid surgery in a hospital in Yazd, she was returned to prison just 24 hours later\u2014before completing her post-operative treatment and against medical advice. For years, Jalalian has suffered from severe health complications, including internal bleeding, kidney problems, and chronic pain. In July 2024, she was transferred to the infirmary of Yazd Central Prison due to acute pain but was sent back to her ward without access to specialized medical care and only rudimentary treatment. Now, in addition to her chronic illnesses, she is facing dermatological complications and overall physical weakness, leaving her in a critical state.<\/p>\n
