They carried banners reading <em data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1783\">\u201cEmployees and retirees, rise up against oppression and discrimination\u201d<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1788\" data-end=\"1814\">\u201cStop the humiliation.\u201d<\/em> Workers accused officials of turning the Oil Pension Fund into a \u201cprivate trust\u201d for insiders, echoing chants such as <em data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1994\">\u201cThe government and parliament have privatized our rights.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1998\" data-end=\"2356\">The Ahvaz protest followed a week of growing unrest in the energy sector, where employees from South Pars and other southern oil fields have staged repeated sit-ins over wage delays and contract violations.
