Iran:\u00a0At Least 14 Executed on Oct 14 and Many More on Oct 15 \u2014 Over 2,000 Killed in 14.5 Months of Pezeshkian\u2019s Presidency<\/h3>\nKhamenei\u2019s henchmen executed at least fourteen prisoners on October 14, and on Wednesday, October 15, another group of prisoners was sent to the gallows. By noon today, the names of five of them have been confirmed; the names of the remaining victims will be announced later.<\/p>\n
Today,\u00a0Majid Hatami<\/em>, aged 26,\u00a0Sajjad Hatami<\/em>, and\u00a0Amir Reza Ghobadi<\/em>\u00a0were executed in Ghezel Hesar;\u00a0Hazrat Es\u2019hafari<\/em>\u00a0in Isfahan; and\u00a0Mohammad Rafiq Golehbacheh<\/em>\u00a0in Arak. On Tuesday, October 14, fourteen prisoners were hanged:\u00a0Ghanbar Emad Morgan<\/em>, aged 26, in Esfarayen;\u00a0Fateh Haqdarian<\/em>, aged 32, in Yasuj;\u00a0Shahram Chenabi<\/em>\u00a0and four other prisoners in Kermanshah. The names of the other executed individuals were mentioned in the previous statement.<\/p>\n On Monday, October 13, ten prisoners were executed:\u00a0Javad Yousefi<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Eskandar Maleki<\/em>\u00a0in Qazvin. The names of the other executed people were also listed in the previous statement. Thus, the number of executions during the fourteen and a half months of Pezeshkian\u2019s presidency has reached an unprecedented record of 2,008 prisoners.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, last night, coinciding with the second day of the hunger strike by 1,500 death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar, families of some inmates staged a protest outside the prison. On Tuesday, October 14, the striking prisoners issued a statement declaring: \u201cOur patience has run out over this endless oppression and the taking of the lives of prisoners and young people. Every day and every week, some of our cellmates are sent to the gallows, and many of us spend our nights in the nightmare of death. These are the most agonizing moments of our lives and of our families\u2026 We demand the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n In videos released from this hunger strike, prisoners, holding handwritten signs reading \u201cNo to Execution,\u201d call on the UN Secretary-General to prevent the massacre of prisoners. (Attached video.)<\/p>\n Yesterday, the inmates of Ward 4 in Ghezel Hesar issued a statement in support of the prisoners in Ward 2, declaring:\u00a0\u201cWe support the steadfastness of our friends in Ward 2 and of their families protesting outside the prison. We have no choice left but protest and hunger strike.
