US-E3 Draft Resolution at IAEA Board Demands Swift Cooperation from Iran<\/h3>\n

VIENNA, Nov 18 (Reuters) – Europe’s top three powers and the U.S. have submitted a draft resolution to this week’s meeting of the U.N. atomic watchdog’s 35-nation Board of Governors demanding answers and access from Iran over its\u00a0bombed nuclear sites<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0enriched uranium stock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Diplomats said the draft resolution submitted by France, Britain, Germany and the United States on Tuesday and seen by Reuters is highly likely to be passed as early as Wednesday. It follows a damning International Atomic Energy Agency\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0on Iran sent to member states last week.<\/p>\n

That report said Tehran has still not let inspectors into the nuclear sites Israel and the United States bombed in June and that accounting for the uranium stock is “long overdue”.<\/p>\n

Suspected espionage-driven threat actors from Iran have been observed deploying backdoors like TWOSTROKE and DEEPROOT as part of continued attacks aimed at aerospace, aviation, and defense industries in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The activity has been attributed by Google-owned Mandiant to a threat cluster tracked as\u00a0UNC1549<\/a>\u00a0(aka Nimbus Manticore or Subtle Snail), which was\u00a0first documented<\/a>\u00a0by the threat intelligence firm early last year.<\/p>\n

“Operating in late 2023 through 2025, UNC1549 employed sophisticated initial access vectors, including abuse of third-party relationships to gain entry (pivoting from service providers to their customers), VDI breakouts from third-parties, and highly targeted, role-relevant phishing,” researchers Mohamed El-Banna, Daniel Lee, Mike Stokkel, and Josh Goddard said.<\/p>\n
