Lebanon Rebukes Iran for Hezbollah ‘More Important Than Bread’ Comments<\/h3>\n

Lebanon’s top diplomat hit back at an Iranian official who said the Tehran-backed Hezbollah was “more important than daily bread”, at a time when Washington and Tel Aviv are pressing Beirut to disarm the group.<\/p>\n

Youssef Raggi said the remarks crossed into territory that Lebanon considers its own, stressing that decisions about the country’s defence cannot be shaped from abroad.<\/p>\n

In a message addressed to his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, Raggi, who is a member of the staunchly anti-Hezbollah Lebanese Forces party,\u00a0wrote on X<\/a>: “I genuinely wanted to believe that Iran does not interfere in Lebanon\u2019s internal affairs, until your Supreme Leader\u2019s advisor Ali Akbar Velayati came out today to tell us what is truly important in Lebanon and warned us of the consequences of disarming Hezbollah.”<\/p>\n

Just over two years ago, November 9, 2023 began like any other day. By midday, my life had changed forever. I miraculously survived an assassination attempt ordered by the Islamic Republic of Iran. That should have been a turning point in Europe\u2019s policy toward Tehran. I was the first European politician targeted on European soil by Iranian terror. Yet meaningful change in policy remains elusive.<\/p>\n

It happened near my home in Madrid. A man approached me from behind, greeted me politely, and raised a pistol to my head. I turned just as he fired. Before reaching hospital, I told first responders \u2013 and later the public \u2013 that Tehran was certainly responsible. I had long been on its enemies list for supporting Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the coalition of pro-democracy groups advocating a secular, non-nuclear republic. The world\u2019s leading state sponsor of terrorism had branded me an enemy for promoting an alternative to its theocratic dictatorship.<\/p>\n

Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Thursday said the attacks were “unprecedented and dangerous acts of aggression orchestrated by a foreign nation on Australian soil”.<\/p>\n

Mahin Rahimi Executed in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad<\/h3>\n

At dawn on Wednesday, November 26, the death sentence of Mahin Rahimi, a female prisoner held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, was carried out. Mahin Rahimi had previously been convicted of murder and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. As of the time of this report, prison authorities and official judicial bodies have not publicly confirmed or announced the execution of Mahin Rahimi. With the execution of Mahin Rahimi in Vakilabad Prison, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 54, marking an unprecedented record in the execution of women in Iran.<\/p>\n
