On December 24, 2025, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irna.ir\/news\/86035140\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former president warned<\/a> that if the Islamic Republic \u201cwith all its shortcomings\u201d were to fall, Iran\u2019s fate would be \u201cfar more bitter,\u201d and insisted there is \u201cno way\u201d except so-called reforms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What Khatami is really broadcasting is the underlying mindset of the system\u2019s officials across factions: they speak as custodians of a collapsing order trying to manage anger, divide the opposition, and buy time.
