WASHINGTON \u2014 Iran\u2019s ruling clerics knew a nationwide revolt was coming \u2014 and plotted a brutal, premeditated crackdown months in advance, according to explosive new audio recordings and secret regime documents released Tuesday by the most prominent Iranian opposition group in the US.<\/p>\n

The National Council of Resistance of Iran, whose intelligence first identified\u00a0Iran\u2019s nuclear program<\/a>\u00a0in 2002, said the Tehran regime coldly mapped out a mass slaughter of protesters \u2014 including orders to cut off the internet, unleash live fire on crowds, embed undercover agents in demonstrations and manipulate protest chants to weaken the uprising.<\/p>\n

Excerpts of the documents, reviewed by Fox News Digital, show that Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council developed the strategy after the 2019 nationwide protests that came amid fuel price hikes and economic collapse.<\/p>\n

At a National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)\u00a0press briefing<\/a>\u00a0Tuesday covering the regime\u2019s pre-planned orders behind the protests and mass killings, Alireza Jafarzadeh, deputy director of the Washington office, said the documents “were obtained from within the regime” and later cited The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) as having gained access to them.<\/p>\n

“This Directive\u00a0by the National Security Council was\u00a0obtained by the network in Iran of the MEK, which has access to sources within the regime,” he confirmed to Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n
