With slogans such as \u201cWe swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,\u201d \u201cDeath to the dictator,\u201d \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d \u201cDeath to the oppressor, whether shah or leader,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cNo monarchy, no supreme leadership; democracy, equality.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n

Students repulse Basij agents chanting the fascist slogan \u201cLong live the Shah\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n

On Sunday, February 22, anti-government protests at universities across the country entered their second day. Students at the University of Tehran, the country\u2019s largest and oldest university, chanted slogans including \u201cDeath to the dictator,\u201d \u201cThis year is the year of blood; Seyed Ali\u00a0 (Khamenei) will be overthrown,\u201d \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d \u201cDeath to the oppressor, whether shah or leader,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cNo monarchy, no supreme leadership; democracy, equality.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

A group of University of Tehran students issued a statement today declaring:
\n\u201c\u2026There is no connection between the university and either past or present tyranny\u2026 Throughout Iran\u2019s history of struggle, the university has always been a bastion of freedom. Once again, we see that the tainted hands of monopolists seek to turn this sacred space into a playground for reactionary forces. The sinister aim of monarchist currents is to legitimize despotism and deprive this space, which must be the people\u2019s voice, of real freedom and democracy\u2026 University is an unconquerable bastion of freedom. We who have tasted the bitter experience of repression accept no form of dictatorship, whether with a turban or with boots. Our slogan is the historic slogan of the Iranian people: \u2018No monarchy, no supreme leadership\u2014democracy, equality.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At Khajeh Nasir University in Tehran, students trampled on Khamenei\u2019s picture and chanted: \u201cKhamenei the murderer, you are gravely mistaken!\u201d<\/em> They also chanted \u201cWoe to the day we become armed,\u201d<\/em> and shouted \u201cShameless, shameless\u201d<\/em> to express opposition to Basij agents.<\/p>\n

At University of Science and Technology in Tehran protest continued with slogans such as \u201cWe swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,\u201d \u201cUntil the clerics are shrouded, this homeland will not become a homeland,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cPolitical prisoners must be free, death to Khamenei.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At Melli (Beheshti) University in Tehran, students marched chanting \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d \u201cWe swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cWe fight, we die, we will take Iran back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, gatherings were held for a second day, with students chanting \u201cWe swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,\u201d \u201cDeath to Khamenei,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cThe blood that is shed can never be erased.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ferdowsi and Sajjad Universities in Mashhad also witnessed large student participation. Among their chants were \u201cWe swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,\u201d \u201cThis year is the year of blood; Seyed Ali\u00a0 (Khamenei) will be overthrown,\u201d \u201cFreedom, freedom,\u201d<\/em> and \u201cWe did not give blood to compromise, nor to praise a murderous leader.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At some universities, including Iran Science and Technology and Amir Kabir Universities, Basij agents attacked students and chanted the fascist slogan \u201cLong live the Shah\u201d<\/em> in an attempt to distort the protests, but were met with a firm response from students.<\/p>\n
