BRUSSELS, March 18, 2026 \u2014 Mohammad Mohaddessin, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, urged European leaders on Wednesday to abandon failed appeasement toward Tehran and instead support \u201cregime change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking in Brussels on the eve of a European Union summit, Mohaddessin blamed the region\u2019s turmoil on \u201ctwo key factors: first, the Iranian regime and its conduct; and second, the West\u2019s policy of appeasement.\u201d He argued that negotiations and concessions had helped sustain the Iranian system for more than four decades and enabled the current crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have repeatedly warned that this regime is incapable of reform,\u201d Mohaddessin said. \u201cIt will not abandon its pursuit of nuclear weapons, its warmongering in the region, or its violations of agreements.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that \u201cappeasement of this regime is like nurturing a snake in one\u2019s sleeve \u2014 it inevitably leads to war,\u201d and said Europe\u2019s policy had been \u201cthe most significant external factor in sustaining the regime and preventing its overthrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mohaddessin said the current conflict had only reinforced the NCRI\u2019s longstanding position<\/a> that neither diplomacy with Tehran nor foreign military intervention could solve the Iran crisis. \u201cThe only solution to this crisis is regime change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
