The death of Ali Khamenei continues to plunge the clerical dictatorship into a volatile crisis, exposing severe cracks within the Iranian regime’s ruling establishment<\/span>. <\/span>As state-orchestrated mourning rituals commenced, the political atmosphere turned combative. On July 2, 2026, Member of Parliament Ali Asghar Ghazanfari fiercely attacked the regime’s president Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, accusing them<\/a> of orchestrating a stealthy transition. In a speech broadcast widely, Ghazanfari warned that the duo is engineering “the beginning of a quasi-political coup against the leadership of the regime,” attempting to marginalize the next Supreme Leader by shifting absolute control to the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).<\/p>\n

This internal warfare escalated following controversial remarks by Pezeshkian\u2019s executive deputy, Mohammad Jaafar Ghaempanah. In an interview circulated in early July 2026, Ghaempanah openly questioned the traditional boundaries of the Velayat-e Faqih<\/i>, stating, “If we are to implement whatever the Leadership says, then no other institution should exist.” The response from hardline state organs was swift. On July 2, 2026, the ultra-conservative daily Kayhan Newspaper condemned<\/a> Ghaempanah\u2019s vision as “political ignorance,” asserting that “obeying the Leader of the Revolution is a religious and political duty” and declaring that anyone seeking to implement personal opinions “should have no place in the government.”<\/p>\n

The ideological fissure deepened during Friday prayer sermons on July 3, 2026. In Tehran, Ahmad Khatimi used<\/a> the official platform of Tehran Friday Prayers to demand absolute compliance with the new leadership under Mojtaba Khamenei, declaring, “When the Wali al-Faqih says something… now is the time for obedience; everyone must say ‘yes sir’.” Concurrently, in Mashhad, Ahmad Alamolhoda directly cornered the president on state media, stating it is unacceptable for those around Pezeshkian to question the Supreme Leader’s station with “nonsense and absurdities.” Meanwhile, state television reports highlighted furious crowd chants of “Death to the infiltrators” and “negotiations are forbidden.”<\/p>\n
