Following a sham trial, Khanaki was sentenced to death and the confiscation of all his property by the regime\u2019s Revolutionary Court in Karaj on charges of PMOI membership and active participation in the January 2026 protests.<\/p>\n

Khanaki had been actively pursued by the regime\u2019s security forces since the massive January 2026 nationwide uprising. He was eventually arrested on February 10, 2026, in Karaj. During his imprisonment, the regime\u2019s executioners subjected him to months of severe physical and psychological torture.<\/p>\n

This brutal treatment is part of a systemic pattern of abuse in Iran, where political prisoners are entirely denied the right to due process. The regime uses restrictive laws, political prosecutions, and the overt interference of security apparatuses to systematically strip citizens of their right to a defense.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, 1,500 death-row prisoners convicted of general crimes in Qezel Hesar Prison are on their ninth consecutive day of a dry hunger strike to protest the unjust judicial proceedings that led to their death sentences. The Islamic Republic has left citizens with no alternative for protest other than risking their own lives.<\/p>\n

However, the severity of repression is not limited to executions alone. It is a repression that, due to the silence and inaction of the global community and international human rights bodies, has permeated every fabric of Iranian society.<\/p>\n
