According to Kharazi, Mojtaba Khamenei issued a stern warning, stating, &#8220;If he resigns one more time, I will accept his resignation.\u201d Although Mojtaba Khamenei&#8217;s office issued a formal denial on August 4, 2026, Pezeshkian publicly pushed back against the pressure in a video, asserting, &#8220;If I resign, I will officially announce that I have resigned. I will not resign, I will stand firm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This power struggle reflects a broader dispute over recent diplomatic engagements with the United States. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, hardline factions have openly rebelled. By August 3, 2026, the judiciary had executed two individuals on espionage charges and handed down severe prison terms, including a 15-year sentence for political activist Abbas Lesani and a death sentence for a protester from Ilam.
