CENTCOM Destroys 3 IRGC Oil Tankers After Iran Targets 2 U.S. Navy Warships<\/h3>\n

TAMPA, Fla. \u2014<\/strong>\u00a0U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers, Sept. 5, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships patrolling regional waters.<\/p>\n

A U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks. No American personnel were harmed.<\/p>\n

Following Iran\u2019s failed attacks, CENTCOM permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M\/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M\/T Stark 1 near Jask. American forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M\/T Kylo (also known as the \u201cNoxen\u201d) in the Gulf of Oman, striking the vessel in multiple critical locations to render it inoperable after the crew was directed to abandon ship.<\/p>\n

UN Nuclear Agency Members Draft Resolution Reporting Iran to the UN Security Council<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0United States<\/a>, Britain,\u00a0France<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Germany<\/a>\u00a0have drafted a resolution for possible consideration by the Board of Governors of the U.N. nuclear watchdog that seeks to refer\u00a0Iran<\/a>\u00a0to the U.N. Security Council for failure to comply with its nuclear nonproliferation obligations, diplomats say.<\/p>\n

Under those obligations, which are part of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran is legally bound to declare all nuclear material and activities and allow inspectors of the Vienna-based\u00a0International Atomic Energy Agency<\/a>\u00a0to verify that none of it is being diverted from peaceful uses.<\/p>\n

The diplomatic move has been under consideration since June 2025 when the IAEA board found Iran officially in noncompliance with its nonproliferation obligations for the first time in 20 years \u2014 one day before the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran\u2019s nuclear sites.<\/p>\n

Iran: Statement By the Spokesperson on the Latest Attacks<\/h3>\n

The European Union is alarmed by the latest military escalation in the Middle East. We strongly condemn the latest wave of Iranian attacks against Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. We equally deplore the recent attacks carried out against Saudi commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The EU reiterates that these attacks violate international law, and calls for de-escalation and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.<\/p>\n

We urge all parties to refrain from taking any action that further threatens regional security and stability and risks undermining efforts towards a peaceful and lasting resolution of the conflict.<\/p>\n

We also urge the protection of civilians by all parties, everywhere in full respect of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n

PMOI Resistance Units Mark 61st Anniversary with Nationwide Acts of Defiance<\/h3>\n

Ahead of the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK), Resistance Units have marked the occasion with activities across Iran, including a march by a Resistance Unit in Karaj and 30 slogan-writing activities in cities across the country.<\/p>\n

The activities, reported on September 3, took place in Tehran, Karaj, Mashhad, Qom, Shiraz, Rasht, Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Bandar Abbas, Hamedan, Zanjan, Ilam, Sanandaj, Sabzevar, Saveh, Ivan Sarab, Bukan, Minab, and Islamabad-e Gharb. They come ahead of September 6, the anniversary of the PMOI\u2019s founding in 1965.<\/p>\n
