Around 180 workers have been without work for more than a year, according to the report, and one worker said repeated approaches to provincial authorities had produced no definitive answer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Kurdistan, more than 300 nurses and healthcare workers gathered outside the provincial governorate over low pay, delayed overtime payments, staff shortages and disputed nursing tariffs. A local news agency reported that protesters chanted \u201cPromises are enough; our table is empty\u201d and demanded the resignation of incompetent officials. Seeking to avoid a nationwide backlash like the November 2019 uprising, the regime has opted for a phased price increase, leaving the subsidized monthly allocations of 60 liters at 1,500 tomans and 50 liters at 3,000 tomans unchanged. State television carried the announcement, including the government\u2019s claim that additional revenue will be directed toward household livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The government insists the measure represents a \u201cgradual\u201d adjustment because most motorists supposedly remain within the two cheaper quotas. On September 7, Mohammad-Sadegh Azimifar, head of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, said 80 to 85 percent of consumers would not be affected. But the third-tier price itself rises 100 percent in a single step, announced little more than a day before implementation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shana.ir\/news\/2705729\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shana reported<\/a> that average gasoline consumption during the first five months of the year was about 132 million liters a day against production of roughly 122 million, leaving a 10-million-liter daily gap.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Officials are therefore trying to present the increase simultaneously as economically necessary and socially limited. IRIB quoted Azimifar saying the phased approach was intended to give consumers time to move toward alternative fuels, while the government emphasizes that the cheaper quotas remain intact. Yet for drivers whose livelihoods depend heavily on vehicles\u2014or who already face shortages, long distances or greater-than-average consumption\u2014the higher marginal price can translate directly into operating costs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;The latest phase of Iran\u2019s crisis is therefore distinguished not only by <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/economic?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#economic<\/a> deterioration but by the erosion of political discipline at the top,&quot; writes <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MansoreGolestan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MansoreGolestan<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GlE7r4Uwut\">https:\/\/t.co\/GlE7r4Uwut<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iran_policy\/status\/2095953059536839016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 4, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Officials Acknowledge the Political Risk<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The timing is politically significant because senior officials are increasingly linking economic management to regime stability. Parliament speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf said on September 6 that the country\u2019s \u201cmain battle\u201d alongside the military confrontation is now over production and people\u2019s livelihoods, citing inflation, unemployment and market instability. More revealingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/tejaratnews.com\/%D9%85%D8%B1%D8%AF%D9%85-%D8%B3%D8%AE%D8%AA%DB%8C-%D8%B1%D8%A7-%D8%AA%D8%AD%D9%85%D9%84-%D9%85%DB%8C%DA%A9%D9%86%D9%86%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%A7-%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%A1%D9%85%D8%AF%DB%8C%D8%B1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he warned<\/a> that people may tolerate hardship but will not tolerate \u201cmismanagement and underperformance,\u201d while stressing the need to preserve the regime\u2019s \u201cinternal cohesion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yet that cohesion is visibly fraying. Following former regime president Hassan Rouhani\u2019s calls for a referendum on war or peace, the confrontation spilled beyond official media into loyalist street and social-media agitation. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/radiiozaman\/status\/2096721458667892871\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Footage circulated<\/a> by regime supporters shows demonstrators targeting Rouhani personally, reviving the \u201cFriday morning\u201d taunt associated with the November 2019 gasoline uprising and telling him, in effect, that his political \u201cexpiration date\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/notdogin\/status\/2096721141167436006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has arrived<\/a>. Online, the rhetoric has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/amahmoudi1363\/status\/2096786723065762015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gone further<\/a>: loyalist accounts have circulated courtroom and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/talaye73877\/status\/2096536668220129417\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prison imagery<\/a> and openly demanded that Rouhani be put on trial, with calls to prosecute him\u2014often alongside Javad Zarif\u2014spreading under hardline hashtags. There is no indication of an actual indictment, but the campaign shows how the regime\u2019s factional warfare is increasingly moving from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tasnimnews.ir\/fa\/news\/1405\/06\/14\/3689287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> elite exchanges<\/a> into the street and its loyalist cyber base.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The clerical regime is therefore raising fuel prices while livelihood protests are spreading and its own factions are openly accusing one another of endangering national cohesion.
