She was 30 years old and lived in Isfahan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">She had been arrested four years ago on charges of murdering her husband and was sentenced to death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">During her four-year marriage, Mahrokh Mirzaei faced ongoing disputes and persistent tensions with her husband. These circumstances gradually affected her mental and psychological well-being, leading to serious difficulties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the execution of Mahrokh Mirzaei, the number of women executed in Iranian prisons since the beginning of 2026 has reached at least 28.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wncri.org\/2023\/09\/07\/executions-of-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data recorded<\/a>\u00a0by the Women\u2019s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at least\u00a0356 women\u00a0have been executed in Iran since 2007.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many of the women executed by the Iranian regime are themselves victims of domestic violence and discriminatory family laws. The Coordinating Council of Teachers\u2019 Trade Associations has attributed this wave to poor working conditions, economic hardships, and neglect of education. In a statement, the same council also cited wages below the poverty line and administrative bureaucracy as factors contributing to dissatisfaction. Trade-union reports indicate an increase in teacher and nurse resignations in various parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The head of the Supreme Council of Iran\u2019s Nursing Organization has warned of an increase in mass resignations. According to him, continuation of the current situation could leave medical centers without nurses. Trade-union officials emphasize that the issue today is not merely recruiting staff but retaining existing nurses. An analysis of data from 2012 to 2024 also shows a correlation of 0.68 between the rate of people arrested for theft and inflation, and 0.62 with the poverty rate. For murder, a correlation of 0.72 with inflation and 0.78 with poverty has been reported. These figures alone do not establish a causal relationship, but they indicate a link between economic conditions and social harm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a report published by the state-run eghtesaad24 website on September 29, international studies also say that inflation and inequality can be associated with increases in violent crime, particularly murder; an effect that is stronger in disadvantaged areas with high poverty and unemployment and weak infrastructure. Regarding suicide, studies associate unemployment and inflation with suicide rates, particularly among people over 40. This report examines the legal dimensions of the executions of Ali Hemmati Sistani and Majid Nikandish, the torture methods applied to extract forced confessions, blatant contradictions in security agency documentation, and the criminal record of Judge Gholamreza Akbari-Moghaddam, Head of Branch 1 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mizanonline.ir\/fa\/news\/4921152\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mizan News Agency<\/a> (affiliated with the judiciary), Ali Hemmati Sistani (33, from Mashhad) and Majid Nikandish (23, from Quchan, Kurdish), who were arrested in connection with the January 18 and 19, 2026 protests in the Tabarsi district of Mashhad, were executed on September 30, 2026. Given that these prisoners were held in Mashhad Central (Vakilabad) Prison, the execution is believed to have been carried out there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to informed sources, Majid Nikandish was subjected to the most severe torture during interrogation. He was held in solitary confinement for about three months and, during interrogations, after being hung by his hands, suffered a broken jaw and a dislocated shoulder. Following these tortures, Majid was held in special cells for security prisoners, security wards, and for a period in Ward 4.
