A teenage hitman who travelled from Norway<\/a> to the UK with the intention of carrying out a murder on behalf of an Iran-backed international crime gang has been jailed for 20 years.<\/p>\n

Johannes Kongsnes Natland, 19, a talented footballer, had agreed to shoot an unknown target in return for \u20ac25,000 (\u00a321,500).<\/p>\n

He travelled to the UK in March last year from his home in Stavanger, and two days later \u2013 before he could carry out the hit \u2013 armed police arrested him at a hotel in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Officers found him in possession of a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, 12 rounds of live ammunition and gloves.<\/p>\n

Natland admitted possessing the firearms and ammunition and said he had intended to shoot himself in the foot to get out of the \u201cpickle\u201d he was in. However, he was found guilty of conspiracy to murder and on Friday was sentenced to 20 years in detention.<\/p>\n

On October 10, World Day Against the Death Penalty, PMOI\/MEK Resistance Units carried out ten operations across nine Iranian cities amid a mounting campaign of executions and repression.<\/p>\n

The operations targeted facilities and signs of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Basij, regime-linked institutions, and propaganda featuring regime leaders. From Qazvin and Kermanshah to Mashhad, Bandar Abbas, and southeastern Iran, the campaign challenged symbols and institutions of state power.<\/p>\n

The operations carried a central message: the regime\u2019s machinery of death has not ended the struggle for freedom. Five operations involved IRGC Basij facilities, highlighting an institution the regime relies on to suppress protests and enforce political control.
