Inmates across 66 prisons throughout Iran conducted coordinated hunger strikes to protest a mounting wave of state-sanctioned executions and persistent judicial repression.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Second UN Special Rapporteur Joins Hunger Strike<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a major international development, Leopoldo Maldonado, the newly appointed UN Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, joined the hunger strike campaign in solidarity. Maldonado&#8217;s endorsement follows UN Special Rapporteur Gina Romero joining the strike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/un-special-rapporteur-joins-no-to-execution-tuesdays-hunger-strike-as-campaign-enters-week-142-across-66-iranian-prisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the previous week.<\/a> The statement also noted recent endorsements from civil society groups, including the &#8220;Mothers of Reconciliation of Kurdistan&#8221; (Maderan-e Ashti), reflecting growing alignment between political prisoners and domestic advocacy networks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The statement underscored that support for the movement continues to expand despite intense state pressure: &#8220;Mr. Leopoldo Maldonado, the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, also joined the &#8216;No to Execution Tuesdays&#8217; campaign this week in protest against executions in Iran.
