The “No to Execution Tuesdays<\/a>” campaign issued its latest statement on November 3, 2026, marking its 145th consecutive week of hunger strikes across 66 prisons in Iran. The update highlights growing global disgust toward capital punishment in Iran, citing new endorsements from international human rights figures, bar associations, and diplomatic bodies.<\/p>\n

Two More UN Officials Join Hunger Strike Campaign<\/h2>\n

In a continued expansion of international solidarity, two additional United Nations mandate holders joined the campaign:<\/p>\n

  • Andrea Bola\u00f1os Vargas:<\/strong> UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders.<\/li>\n
  • Ana Lorena Delgadillo:<\/strong> Member of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These endorsements follow earlier declarations of support and active participation by UN Special Rapporteurs Gina Romero (Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association) and Leopoldo Maldonado (Freedom of Opinion and Expression).<\/p>\n

    The statement also noted strong international condemnations of Iran’s execution surge from Alexis Anagnostakis, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), as well as the Human Rights Division of Global Affairs Canada.<\/p>\n
