{"id":3627,"date":"2007-06-06T01:29:16","date_gmt":"2007-06-06T00:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/iran-a-world\/3627-iran-seizes-three-finns"},"modified":"2023-01-12T20:37:16","modified_gmt":"2023-01-12T19:37:16","slug":"iran-seizes-three-finns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-a-world\/iran-seizes-three-finns\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran seizes three Finns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"finland-flag\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-30908\" height=\"107\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2007\/06\/finland-flag.jpg\" width=\"150\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/finland-flag.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/06\/finland-flag-100x70.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.finland.fi\/stt\/showarticle.asp?intNWSAID=15905&amp;group=General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NewsRoom Finland<br \/><\/a>Iran has seized three Finns in the Persian Gulf, Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV3 reported late on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Finnish foreign ministry later confirmed the report to the Finnish News Agency (STT).<\/p>\n<p>According to MTV3, the Finns had been fishing near Abu Musa, an island claimed by both Iran and the United Arab Emirates, on 2 June.<\/p>\n<p>Nokia Siemens Networks told STT on Wednesday that all three men were employees of its Dubai unit.<\/p>\n<p>Barry French, a Nokia Siemens spokesman, also confirmed that the men had been seized during a fishing cruise.<\/p>\n<p>Mr French added that the company would not release further information about its employees in order to protect their privacy.<\/p>\n<p>Ilkka Kanerva (cons), the Finnish foreign minister, told MTV3 that it was possible that Iran would free the men on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Esa Hurtig, Finnish charg\u00c3\u0083\u00c2\u00a9 d&#8217;affaires at the UAE, said efforts to free the men had not progressed owing to two days of public holidays since the incident in Iran. Mr Hurtig, having visited Iran&#8217;s embassy to the UAE, added the men were in good health.<\/p>\n<p>Heikki Puurunen, the Finnish ambassador to Tehran, told STT he would discuss the freeing of the men with the Iranian foreign ministry on Wednesday.
