Text of speech by Mr. Andrew McKinley:<\/p>\n
My colleague Brian Binley and myself, along with the other members of the United Kingdom delegation, deem it a great honor to be able to join you and the countless men and women around the world who will join us this afternoon for this event through the wonders of modern science. To them, the brave Iranians enduring exile, we send our greetings. And above all else, we say salam (hello) to our friends in Ashraf City, whom I am sure take immense pride in the enthusiasm and support they are getting from their friends here in Paris.<\/p>\n
We in the United Kingdom, and my friends in the British delegation, are joining 35 members of the British Parliament to challenge in London courts the wrong decision, the unjust decision, of the British government to continue to put the PMOI (People’s Mojahedin of Iran \/MEK) on the list of terrorism.<\/p>\n
We say, this is unfair. We say, this is unjust. We say, this is foolhardy if we want to send a message to Tehran that the days of the regime are numbered. It is time that the British government and the European Union recognize who the true friends of freedom, justice, and democracy are.<\/p>\n
This is a wonderful celebration by the people who are determined to bring to their land, parliamentary democracy, rule of law, and respect for human rights. <\/p>\n
Let us go from this meeting here today with double the energy, and with great resolve, to ensure that the next occasion we meet is not in Paris, but in Tehran. <\/p>\n
