NCRI – The mullahs’ judiciary sentenced 11 worker activists to ten lashes each for demonstrating on May Day last year. Abbas Andaryari, the last of four sentenced so far, was lashed for his part in last year’s May Day celebrations in the western city of Sanandaj. <\/p>\n
So far, four workers — Sadiq Amjadi, Habibollah Kalakani, and Fars Goliani and Sadiq Sobhni — have been lashed by authorities for what was called disrupting public order and participating in an unauthorized gathering.<\/p>\n
The four are among eleven other activists who were arrested by State Security Forces (SSF) during last year’s May Day celebrations in Sanandaj.<\/p>\n
The detainees were each sentenced to 10 lashes and 91 days in prison for their demonstration on May 1, 2007. Two of the workers were sentenced to 2 1\/2 years in prison, a verdict that was later reviewed by Kurdistan Province’s appeals court and changed to 10 lashes, and a fine of 200,000 Tomans (about $200).<\/p>\n
