FORT WORTH, Texas, March 30 (UPI) — A U.S. couple are accused of conspiring to sell restricted military and commercial aircraft parts to Iran, court papers say.<\/p>\n
Brian and Laura Woodford are accused of providing restricted military and commercial aircraft parts to Iran, which is a crime since the United States has designated Iran a state sponsor of terrorism, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Woodfords worked through a company they owned and operated in Singapore, the Star-Telegram said.<\/p>\n
The couple reportedly owned a lavish home in Fort Worth, a $4.5 million chalet in Colorado and a 17th-century manor on a 100-acre estate in England, the newspaper said.<\/p>\n
Laura Woodford, a 63-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested in December after she entered the United States from Hong Kong at the San Francisco International Airport while en route to visit her mother in Dallas. <\/p>\n
Laura Woodford, who if convicted could be sent to prison for life, remains in federal jail in New York. Her British-born husband is at large, authorities said.<\/p>\n
"Many countries, including Singapore, will not extradite individuals for export violations such as those charged here," prosecutors said in court papers. <\/p>\n
