Mrs. Rajavi called for support to the striking workers<\/I><\/p>\n
NCRI – Thousands of workers at Haft-Tapeh Sugar Cane Factory in Khuzistan Province started their fourth week of strike despite increasing pressures and attacks by suppressive agents.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, May 25, the agents of the State Security Forces (SSF) tried to disperse workers gathered outside the governorates office in Shoosh by tear gas and opening fire on them. As a result of brutal attacks, the workers returned to the factory to continue with their strike. The workers say that the regime?s hollow promises that their salaries will be paid if they returned to work is nothing but a big lie and they will not stop their strike until their demands are met. <\/p>\n
In a bid to crumble the strike, the regime has arrested a number of workers and increased patrols on streets to prevent any gathering or protest by workers. The suppressive forces arrest workers participating in gatherings. <\/p>\n
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, lauded once again the striking workers for their determination in defense of their rights. She also called on labor organizations and trade unions in particular the International Labor Organization (ILO) to support the workers? strike. <\/p>\n
By referring to brutal suppression of the Sugar Cane workers in Haft-Tapeh and their families, Mrs. Rajavi reiterated that the religious dictatorship ruling Iran is left with nothing but all out crackdown on the just demands of the Iranian people. The prime and most basic demand of Iranian people is regime change and establishment of democracy and people?s rule in Iran. <\/p>\n
